Contractors are not entitled to pay while travelling. 

Visa Requirements

The Company shall be responsible and liable for the multi-entry visa cost as required to deliver the Services. Any visa costs incurred by the Contractor shall be reimbursed.

Package

GardaWorld will provide the Independent Contractor with appropriate accommodation, insurance, flights, and life support while on duty.

 

Food, Accommodation and General Expenses:

The company will provide the Contractor with food, drink, transportation, and accommodation as necessary whilst the Contractor is engaged in a project.

 

If Company is unable to provide the Contractor with food, accommodation, and transportation, except as set forth below for inbound and outbound travel to the project location, Company shall either provide a per diem at an agreed rate or reimburse to the Contractor for any travelling, hotel and other expenses reasonably incurred by him in the proper performance of his duties under this Agreement. In the case of the latter, the Contractor must provide Company with such vouchers and receipts or other evidence of actual payment of such expenses as Company may reasonably require. The Contractor shall seek the prior approval by Company for any individual expenses incurred under this Agreement.

Flight Package

GardaWorld will provide an economy class return ticket per rotation to the project location from a hub airport as close as reasonably practicable to the Contractor’s declared home address. 

 

The Contractor will be asked to declare their preferences for a primary, secondary, and tertiary hub airport from the GardaWorld hub list at the commencement of their engagement. Where possible and commercially acceptable, GardaWorld will look to book travel to and from one of the preferred hubs.

 

The Contractor will be responsible for any travel arrangements between the hub airport and their home address.  The Company will pay for any transfers from the airport near the project location or any other intermediate landing location to the Consultant’s accommodation at the project.

 

Further information can be found in the GardaWorld Contractor Travel Standard Operating Instruction (SOI), a copy will be provided upon acceptance.

Role Requirements

Skills & Competencies:

Good technical aptitude and comfort working with digital security systems. High attention to detail and ability to detect anomalies on camera feeds or sensor alerts. Effective written and verbal communication skills in English; Arabic is an advantage. Calm under pressure with good judgment in emergency situations. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and incident logging software.

 

Essential Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical or IT training preferred. 2–4 years of experience working with electronic security systems in a control room, SOC, or military installation. Familiarity with surveillance software (e.g., Milestone, Genetec, Avigilon) and access control systems. Basic understanding of electronics, computer systems, or networked security infrastructure. Prior experience in high-risk environments (e.g. military bases, embassies, critical infrastructure) is an asset. Current and valid UK C or C1 Driver's license (for B6 vehicles) or equivalent Satisfactory completion of a criminal record check within the recent 6 months.

 

Desirable:

Experience in biometric access systems, perimeter radar, UAS detection, or PSIM (Physical Security Information Management) platforms. Training in security operations, hostile environment awareness, or emergency response. Familiarity with NATO or U.S. military base security operations.

Services

Services provided by the contractor shall include, but not be limited to, the operation and monitoring of Electronic Security Systems (ESS) to ensure the safety and security of personnel, facilities, and assets at Balad. The ESS Operator is responsible for the day-to-day surveillance, detection, and reporting of security-related events using integrated technologies such as CCTV, intrusion detection, and access control systems. Services the contractor can expect to carry out, but are not limited to, are as follows:

 

Monitor and operate the base's Electronic Security Systems, including closed-circuit television (CCTV), access control, perimeter sensors, alarm systems, and integrated security platforms. Identify and assess suspicious activity, system anomalies, or breaches in real time and report immediately to the ESS Supervisor or Security Operations Centre (SOC). Maintain continuous surveillance coverage of designated zones, ensuring all systems are fully operational, recording correctly, and free of obstruction or technical error. Conduct regular system checks and diagnostics to confirm functionality and escalate faults or outages to the appropriate maintenance or IT support teams. Respond to triggered alerts from intrusion detection systems and coordinate with mobile patrol units or static guards for on-ground investigation. Maintain accurate logs of daily ESS operations, including incident records, system alerts, equipment faults, and routine observations. Ensure proper archiving, storage, and retrieval of surveillance footage in support of investigations, reviews, or incident follow-up. Assist with the calibration, software updates, and basic troubleshooting of ESS components under supervision or as directed. Participate in training exercises, emergency drills, and refresher briefings relating to ESS operations, emergency protocols, and threat response. Ensure strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), confidentiality guidelines, and applicable data protection policies in all system interactions.

 

This position is a critical element in the security infrastructure at Balad, providing early threat detection, operational oversight, and technical support to ensure a secure environment for all personnel and mission-critical assets.
