Job Description

The Canteen Operator is responsible for ensuring the semi-skilled task allocated to them by the Canteen Supervisor is performed effectively and efficiently, thereby contributing to the quality service provided by the canteen.

Safety: Consistent application of Safety & Health principles in all discipline interactions and take personal responsibility for safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities.

Performance and Delivery:
• Follow verbal or simple written work instructions.
• Ensure proper understanding of the required actions.
• Apply recognised work and safety standards.
• Ensure that food preparation and canteen areas are clean and hygienic.
• Operation of all canteen equipment required.
• Monitor that canteen equipment is in good running order.
• Prepare food for employees.
• Complete tasks to required standard.
• Co-ordinate activities with team members.
• Report abnormal activities or problems to Canteen Supervisor.
• Support the measurement of task performance through simple data collection.
• Support the Canteen Supervisor in identifying material and ingredient requirements.
• Participate in required meetings.
• Accurately complete role administration requirements.
• Identify opportunities to improve the Canteen area and services.
• Perform tasks ensuring limited disruption to canteen customers.
• Effective two way communication with team members.
• Ensure that all required tools and material are available to complete tasks

People & Teams:
• Actively engage as a team member in all team processes.

Compliance:
• Adherence to Valterra Platinum's internal and external compliance (legislative, regulatory, permitting) requirements.

QualificationsMatric

Experience:

1- 3 years relevant experience in canteen operations and cleaning.
