Job Summary: 

This role is an administrative role with overall responsibility for the technical oversight of the unit, including Production Engineering, task and activity optimization and coordination, operations-specific training development, turnaround optimization, quality performance, and compliance with regulatory and external technical requirements. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

Ensures the deployment, execution, optimization, and sustainability of a robust operations task and activity list.  Ensures externally driven technical requirements are prioritized and incorporated in the unit task and activity list.   Ensures causes of off-spec production are identified and addressed in collaboration with Quality Control and Improvement.  Ensures an effective SPC program is in place.  Works with Maintenance, Reliability, and Improvement to resolve issues and identify opportunities to improve unit performance.  Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements in collaboration with Environmental.  Collaborates with Training to develop operator process and equipment training materials.  Ensure effective engineering and technology coverage to assist operators with process and equipment technical performance issues.  Stewards the reduction of production losses attributed to operations causation.  Ensures effective prioritization, preparation, and scheduling of maintenance and capital repair and process improvements.   Ensures effective start-up and shutdown planning and procedure development.  Ensures disciplined scope development, adherence, and planning for turnarounds. 

 

Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:                               

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in engineering; chemical engineering preferred.  5 years of operational experience within a chemical plant  Experience leading/managing cross-functional teams  Knowledge of or experience with lean and continuous improvement concepts/tools  Application of statistical techniques and software for data analysis and interpretation of data   Knowledge of SAP operations  Effective written and interpersonal communication skills  Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, & SharePoint).  

 

Considered a Plus: 

Previous management experience, including technical personnel (engineers, etc.)  Master’s degree in Engineering or Management from accredited college or university  Certified lean six sigma green belt  Familiarity with environmental and safety regulations  Project management experience 

 

Working Conditions:                          

Must be willing/able to work in a plant environment and occasionally outdoors in inclement weather.   Willing/able to work off hours/weekends, as required.  Expected to wear all required PPE.
