Operations Supervisor - Inventory Control
Job Description

Onsite - This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report on-site on a full-time basis.

Relocation: This job may be eligible for relocation benefits.

The Role
This position supports the success of warehouse or distribution center operations by ensuring accurate and timely shipments to customers. The role involves leading and resolving operational challenges within established standards, with some direction from the General Supervisor. The position may also involve supervising a small team of union-represented employees.

 

What You'll Do (Responsibilities):

 Demonstrate expertise in warehouse/distribution processes and ensure standard methods are consistently followed

 Motivate and guide direct reports through effective training, coaching, communication, development, and recognition

 Identify improvement opportunities using tools such as layered audits and process evaluations

 Meet or exceed KPIs in Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, and Cost

 Cultivate a culture of safety and ensure enforcement of all workplace safety rules and procedures

 Implement Global Manufacturing System (GMS) and lean principles to improve efficiency and reduce waste

 Use operational data to drive decision-making and correct inefficiencies

 Maintain strong working relationships with employees, union representatives, and the broader management team

 Support continuous improvement initiatives and promote accountability through performance evaluation and feedback

 Communicate team goals clearly and leverage resources to meet quality standards

 Administer company policies consistently and fairly

 Complete administrative tasks, including timekeeping and record-keeping

 Train, develop, and evaluate employee performance

 Analyze performance reports and cost metrics to improve distribution center or warehouse operations

 Perform all other duties as assigned



Additional Job Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

 Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

 Experience supervising in a unionized warehouse, distribution center, or manufacturing environment

 Deep understanding of inventory management, slotting strategies, and materials handling operations

 Proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), RF devices, and related technology

 Ability to use data and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, SAP, Oracle) to analyze operations and implement improvements

 High-level analytical ability to solve complex operational problems

 Solid grasp of lean manufacturing concepts, continuous improvement, and standardized work practices

 Strong oral and written communication skills across all organizational levels

 Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate teams and drive performance

 Availability to work any shift and overtime as needed, including weekends

What Can Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

 Prior experience in a union environment

 Demonstrated success improving warehouse KPIs using data and lean tools

 Experience with automated systems or material handling technologies
