Operations Manager - Downtown Area

Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Operations Manager to oversee daily security operations in the Downtown Chicago area. This is an in-office, Monday through Friday position, ideal for a professional leader who thrives in fast-paced environments and has a passion for delivering high-quality service. The Operations Manager will be responsible for managing non-exempt personnel, ensuring client satisfaction, and maintaining operational excellence across assigned sites.

Compensation
Salary Range: $60,000 – $63,000 annually

Key Responsibilities

Interviews and hires qualified applicants in a timely manner, evaluates low performers, and manages transfers/upgrades

Makes job offers and transfers in line with company policy and post requirements

Maintains and updates the Open Post List and actively manages job openings

Creates, manages, and adjusts post schedules in WinTeam to ensure full contract coverage and reduce overtime

Maintains a reliable pool of backup staff and manages weekly time-sheets and bi-weekly payroll with accuracy

Conducts audits of timekeeping records and processes payroll-related tasks such as final checks and bonuses

Represents the company in unemployment hearings, union meetings, and other liability-related matters

Handles employee discipline, counseling, and terminations with proper documentation and follow-through

Communicates regularly with Security Professionals and reviews the No Hours Report to address staffing gaps

Maintains morale and reduces turnover through strong communication and proactive issue resolution

Enforces site-specific policies and ensures staff receive appropriate post training

Keeps the branch organized and on-track with deadlines and operational reporting

Takes on additional projects or tasks as assigned by upper management

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required

3–5 years of professional experience managing non-exempt employees in a fast-paced service environment

Must be eligible to obtain a valid Guard License (if required by state)

Must pass a background check, drug/alcohol test, behavioral assessment, and complete all onboarding documentation

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required; occasional travel to client sites may be needed

Strong written communication skills with the ability to document reports, investigations, and disciplinary actions

Proficient in Microsoft Office with the ability to learn company systems like WinTeam, eHub, and CyCop

Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to de-escalate situations professionally

Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with high integrity and consistent application of company policies

Must be articulate, professional, and able to make sound decisions using good judgment and discretion

Must be fluent in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills
