Regulatory Intelligence, Safety, and Compliance Operations (R1SC Ops) focuses on ensuring product compliance and customer safety. We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead and develop a high performing team within Amazon's R1SC Operations team in Amman, Jordan.
This role will drive operational excellence, team development, and strategic initiatives while ensuring compliance with global regulatory requirements. The position involves managing complex operational processes, developing talent, and delivering results that directly impact Amazon's commitment to customer trust and safety.
Key job responsibilities
Leadership & People Management:
• Lead and develop a team of 70-80 Sr Compliance Associates through Compliance Managers and Process Experts as direct reports,
• Drive talent acquisition and retention strategies to maintain bar-raising standards
• Conduct regular 1:1s, team meetings, and performance reviews
• Foster an inclusive team environment that promotes work-life harmony and employee growth.
• Facilitate career growth conversations and provide constructive feedback on opportunity areas, and align individual goals and work assigned to areas of interest.
Operational Excellence:
• Own end-to-end operational processes and maintain operational excellence.
• Develop and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency
• Manage complex operational challenges, derive root-causes and address them with preventive actions.
• Create and maintain sustainable operational patterns including shift rotations and coverage models
• Lead root cause analysis and implement sustainable solutions for operational issues.
Planning & Execution:
• Translate organizational strategy into actionable team goals and deliverables
• Identify and mitigate operational risks before they become roadblocks
• Partner with cross-functional teams to optimize workflows and processes
• Drive data-based decision making using advanced analytics and reporting tools
• Manage budget and resource allocation effectively
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of operations management experience and proven leadership of teams of 50 + employees
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proficiency in data analysis
• Excellence in both written and verbal communication
• Proven track record of delivering results in fast-paced environments
Preferred Qualifications
• Master's degree in Business, Operations, or related field
• Experience in regulatory compliance or risk management
• Six Sigma certification or demonstrated process improvement expertise
• Proficiency with business intelligence tools (Tableau, SQL)
• Experience managing teams across multiple shifts or time zones
• Previous experience in e-commerce or retail operations
• Demonstrated experience in operational management within e-commerce or compliance
