Operations Manager, Economic Performance
**About the Role** We’re looking for a strategic, analytical, and collaborative problem solver to support Uber’s Operating Cost Structure (OCS) efforts within the EMEA Mobility business. As an Operations Manager on the EMEA Central Operations team, you’ll play a key role in improving Uber’s cost efficiency and driving growth through the execution of high-impact initiatives. You’ll help identify and implement scalable solutions that simplify operations, improve margins, and strengthen cost control discipline across the region. This role is well-suited for someone who combines strong business acumen with analytical thinking and enjoys working cross-functionally to tackle complex challenges. You may have experience working in consulting, strategy, or operations, and are comfortable building business cases and influencing without formal authority. This is a unique opportunity to directly contribute to Uber’s economic performance and support a team focused on financial impact and operational excellence at scale. **What the Candidate Will Do:** - **Lead Cost-Saving Initiatives:** Deliver high-priority projects that reduce costs, working closely with Global, Product, and Operations teams. - **Expand Payment Options:** Support cash rollout across EMEA and help shape business cases for alternative payments. - **Drive Efficiency Improvements:** Identify opportunities to automate, simplify, and optimize processes across the region. - **Monitor Costs and Mitigate Risk:** Track cost trends, spot anomalies early, and drive quick corrective actions in collaboration with cost owners. - **Measure and Report Impact:** Monitor KPIs to measure cost savings performance vs. plan. - **Strengthen Operational Controls:** Identify risks early and help implement effective safeguards alongside risk owners. **What the Candidate Will Need / Basic Qualifications:** - 3–5 years of experience in strategy, operations, consulting, finance, or related roles. - Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred, ideally in a quantitative or analytical field (e.g., economics, finance, engineering). - Demonstrated experience supporting cost-efficiency or margin improvement initiatives. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to draw actionable insights from data. - Comfortable navigating ambiguity and managing multiple projects in parallel. - Clear, concise communication skills and the ability to influence cross-functional teams. **Preferred Qualifications / Bonus Points:** - Experience working on cost structure, margin improvement, or process transformation projects. - Familiarity with AI, automation, or productivity tools used to reduce operational overhead. - SQL proficiency or familiarity with building dashboards in tools such as Tableau, R, or Python. - Experience collaborating with global or cross-functional stakeholders, including Product, Finance, or Compliance. - Background in central operations, with exposure to portfolio management of strategic initiatives.
