Operations Leader - Americas

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Health Voluntary Benefits Operations team at Mercer. This role will be based in Urbandale, New York or Princeton. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

As the Operations Leader - Americas, you will play a critical role in driving operational excellence and leveraging technology to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our Health Business operations. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of operations, including process improvement, system implementation, and strategic planning.  This is a leadership position that requires strong analytical, technical, and managerial skills, as well as a deep understanding of the health brokerage industry – and in particular of the Voluntary Benefits Business.

We will count on you to:

Strategic Planning:  Develop and implement a comprehensive operations and technology strategy aligned with the overall business objectives of the Health Business.  Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and digitization to drive operational efficiency and enhance client experience.

Operations Management:  Oversee day-to-day operations of the Health Business, ensuring smooth and efficient execution of processes.  Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement measures to optimize operational performance, including cost reduction, risk mitigation, and quality improvement.

Team Leadership:  Build and lead a high-performing operations and technology team. Provide guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to team members.  Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Stakeholder Management:  Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including senior management, business leaders, and cross-functional teams, to understand their requirements and align operations initiatives with business goals.  Build strong relationships with external partners, vendors, and industry associations to stay informed about industry trends and leverage external expertise.

What you need to have:

Bachelor's degree in Business, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.

Minimum of 10 years of experience in operations and technology leadership roles within the Health Business industry.

Strong knowledge of Health Business operations, including voluntary and executive benefits.

Proven track record of successfully implementing technology solutions and driving process improvement initiatives.

Deep understanding of industry regulations and compliance requirements.

Excellent leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.

Marsh McLennan is committed to hybrid work, which includes the flexibility of working remotely and the collaboration, connections and professional development benefits of working together in the office. All Marsh McLennan colleagues are expected to be in their local office or working onsite with clients at least three days per week. Office-based teams will identify at least one “anchor day” per week on which their full team will be together in person.

The applicable base salary range for this role is $140,500 to $281,000.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
