Operations Intern

Job Description:

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of experienced staff, the Operations Intern will enhance the services provided to clients through observation, contribution, and co-facilitation of various activities. This position is an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking practical experience in operations within a service-oriented environment, while also gaining insight into client interactions and treatment processes.

Essential Job Functions:

Adhere to professional conduct and standards and be informed of confidentiality and ethical issues during orientation.

Ensure compliance with all program expectations and rules by monitoring client behaviors and reporting observations to supervisors to assist in client treatment.

Actively participate in client treatment by helping to identify their needs, strengths, and challenges.

Maintain a professional demeanor and uphold the standards consistent with agency expectations and program philosophy.

Attend staff meetings, treatment team meetings, and training sessions as requested by supervisors.

Understand and adhere to all program policies while representing the agency in a professional manner.

Serve as a positive role model for clients, demonstrating appropriate behavior and interactions.

Shadow clinical staff to learn about their roles and responsibilities within the organization.

Assist in the admission/orientation process for new clients, including obtaining necessary information and documentation.

Document client activities, including any concerns related to their behavior or progress as required.

Support the screening and monitoring of clients, ensuring safety and recovery needs are met.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Clinical Supervisor, Program Director, Vice President, and/or Executive Team members.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of confidentiality laws governing substance abuse and mental health treatment.

Ability to establish rapport with a diverse client population.

Strong verbal and written communication skills to produce clear and concise reports.

Understanding of case management and rehabilitation methods as they relate to mental health services.

Familiarity with community resources available to individuals with mental illness and how to access them.

Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.

Experience and Education Qualifications:

Currently enrolled or recently graduated from a college or university in Human Services, or a related field.

If the intern is providing counseling services, they must be in their final year of study.

Previous internship experience or coursework related to administrative support is a plus, but not mandatory.

None

Internship Requirements:

Successful completion of background check including criminal record, driving record and abuse/neglect.

All training requirements including Relias Learning within two (2) weeks of employment and annually thereafter.

Bachelor's-level/undergraduate students must submit a letter from their academic advisor to the agency confirming their qualifications and eligibility for the internship.

Provide documentation verifying participation in or enrollment at a college.

Physical Requirements:

ADA Consideration - Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (exists up the 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (exists 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, or pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
