The Petrochemicals division is the starting point of BASF’s petrochemicalbased value chains throughout the regions. The division manufactures and markets a broad portfolio of high-quality basic chemicals and tailored specialties for internal and external customers.
We are seeking a professional like you to join our Freeport, TX site in the Acrylics 300 Block. In this role, you will be primarily responsible for supporting the daily operation of the Acrylics production assets, providing technical assistance in executing the required production plan while driving unit wide environmental compliance. You will serve as the unit contact for agency inspections and audits, as well as compiling data for required environmental reports. You will analyze productivity, quality, and maintenance data and use that information to optimize existing plant equipment. This position requires you to demonstrate your strong leadership qualities in safe plant operation, as the site has PSM/RMP regulated chemicals.
As an Operations Engineer, you create chemistry by...Monitoring and optimizing assigned plant assets, identifying opportunities to reduce energy and raw material consumption while ensuring reliability. Supporting and role model EHS activities and processes. Collaborating with the Acrylics Controls Engineer to develop and leverage your Process Controls skills to assist in controls troubleshooting. Reviewing environmental compliance records, periodic reporting requirements, providing input and support to the Site’s environmental strategy, working closely with plant operations engineers, technicians, and production management to ensure compliance, and making improvements. Providing support to projects to ensure compliance with all state, local, EPA, and permit requirements. Ensuring compliance with regulatory and company policy requirements, prepare and assist applications for environmental permits for air emissions, water discharge and waste disposal operations. Driving the successful application of process engineering concepts to deliver continuous improvement solutions that will minimize the impact of environmental processes, including waste minimization, as well as identify and scope projects and small improvements to improve compliance and efficiency of environmental systems. Developing, overseeing, and supporting environmental training of production personnel. Leading the coordination, completion, and documentation of PSSR / MOC reviews.Providing technical support in root cause failure analysis for EHS incidents.
