The Materials and Structural Analysis Division (MSD) enables customers to find meaningful answers to questions that accelerate breakthrough discoveries and ultimately change the world. We design, manufacture, and support a broad range of high-performance microscopy and spectroscopy workflows on wafers and single chips that provide images and answers in the micro-, nano-, and picometer scales. How will you make an impact?As an Operations Engineer II, Material Engineer, you will be part of a passionate and hardworking team in Eindhoven that builds and tests ground-breaking Transmission Electron Microscopes (TEM)! Our TEM technology enables and supports Nobel Prize-winning research and played a significant role in the early assessment of COVID19. The impact of your work is visible, and you will actively chip into the latest breakthroughs in Science.
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Operations Engineer, Material Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate needs to possess metallurgic expertise and deep understanding of machining processes in a wide variety of metals. This engineer will play a crucial role in supporting projects that require material expertise. This position involves close collaboration with colleagues and suppliers to optimize machining processes, resolving material-related issues and optimize material specifications for better functionality in TEM technology.
As part of the Operations Engineering, this is an opportunity to join our fast-paced, dynamic team, where we ask you to focus on supporting manufacturing to ensure efficient processes alongside highly technically competent colleagues.
What will you do?Provide material expertise and support to colleagues across various projects.
Collaborate with suppliers to discuss and optimize complex manufacturing processes.
Identify, analyze, and resolve material issues in collaboration with suppliers and internal teams in order to maximize Quality output.
Apply Failure Analysis (FA) methods and advanced measurement techniques to investigate and solve material problems (Visual inspection, Fractography, Electron microscopy, RGA, etc…)
Conduct material assessments and recommend improvements to enhance machining efficiency and product quality.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with external expertise providers for outsourcing specific metallurgic investigations in case those cannot be executed internally.
Prepare technical reports and documentation related to material performance and project outcomes.
Manage the Engineering cleanroom laboratory, including coordinating with suppliers for RGA calibration, planning and executing measurements upon request, conducting Phenom measurements, and training new users on lab equipment and protocols.
How will you get there?Demonstrable minimum experience 3-5 years in the field of Engineering (in a manufacturing environment). Knowledge and/or experience with high-vacuum applications is huge plus.
A bachelor or masters Material Engineering, Metallurgic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
Ability to cope with the fast paced dynamics in a manufacturing environment. Be a collaborative teammate with pragmatic approach.
Experience in high tech industry, working in cleanroom environment and creating engineering report
Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with colleagues and suppliers.
Creativity/ability to translate mono part material properties into TEM application behavior and define material requirements for success.
Excellent English language skills (verbal and in writing), Dutch is a huge plus.
Mid-level experience in project management and creating related deliverables

This is a full-time position (40 hours). Working part-time is an option in case you’re available for at least 32 hours.
