Operational Specialist II

If you share our passion for creating an airline people love, we want to hear from you. **Role Summary** The Operational Specialist II role is responsible for developing solutions to station operation and compliance activities that occur primarily below wing at Alaska Airlines (AS). As an individual contributor, this role focuses on developing process improvement recommendations for all below wing functions, resolving related guest issues, and assisting with operational compliance activities. **Key Duties** + Conduct and participate in station risk-based projects to support operational safety and compliance. + Take initiative to develop solutions to operational necessities that ensure proper servicing, scheduling, and recommended process improvements (enplaning/deplaning activities, customer relations, guest security, internal security, load planning, weight/balance, baggage handling procedures, etc.) + Investigate and analyze delays, irregular flight activity, and safety related concerns to identify trends and areas of opportunities for continued operational growth. + Support the Safety Management System (SMS) by collecting Safety Assurance data for analysis and review and assist and monitor corrective actions for effectiveness. + With limited direction from leader, work independently to manage equipment availability and removing obstacles for relevant employees ensuring a functional operation. + Influence cross-functionally and partner/build relationship while representing AS Airport Operations & Customer Service (AOCS) at various meetings with vendors, airport personnel and other airlines (WSR, DAG, SRBs, SRAs, etc.) + Take on ambiguous challenges related to budget, station audits and compliance. et, station audits and compliance activities. **Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills** **Required** + 2 years of airline industry experience or equivalent operational industry experience. + Bachelor’s degree, or an additional two years of relevant training and/or experience in lieu of this degree. + Thorough understanding of airline safety and operating standards, as well as a thorough understanding of customer service, ground handling, cargo, and security operations. + Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to create collaborative relationships that drive outcomes in the best interest of the company with others in the organization and key external business partners. + Superior problem solving, planning, organizational, and analytical skills as well as the ability to effectively communicate with diverse workgroups/departments in a positive manner. + Excellent written and verbal communication, and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel). + Strong professional curiosity. + Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. + Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. + Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule based on business needs. + High school diploma or equivalent is required. + Minimum age of 18. + Must be authorized to work in the U.S. **Preferred** + Strong understanding of airport operations including but not limited to above-wing operations (e.g., ticket counter, gate, baggage) and below-wing operations (e.g., ramp operations). + Working knowledge of AS policies and procedures and SMS programs. + Experience in project management, audit, compliance, or related area. **Job-Specific Leadership Expectations** Embody our values to own safety, do the right thing, be caring and kind, and deliver performance. **Salary Range** $76,400 -- $114,600 / year **Salary Details** Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees.
