About the Role

FX IT focuses on the support and development of systems and processes for Global Banking and Markets FX business worldwide. FX IT is currently made up of staff based in Hong Kong, London, New York, and Toronto.

The candidate will be responsible for production management for HSBC’s FX electronic trading systems, primarily supporting the New York online day, although the role will also be part of a Regional and Global Teams providing follow-the-sun operational to Europe and Asia when necessary, under a DevOps IT service delivery model.

This role will focus on providing Business facing support to the FX Trading, Sales, Quants and Middle Office desks based in New York.

There will be a need to provide weekend and holiday support on a rota basis.

The Bank’s primary FX trading platforms are in-house built.

As our Full Stack Engineer for FICC GFX ERISK you will: 

Day-to-day operation of FX electronic market making and order management systems Front line support of a 24/5.5 production of the FX systems for both internal and external clients. Ensure all production incidents, service requests and problems logged and resolved in the banks systems Producing and using SQL queries to provide ad-hoc requested information to stake holders and continuously assist in problem resolutionHelp maintain an information repository of application support material that can be accessed by support resourcesOperate as part of a shift rotation, covering the hours of 08:00 – 19:30 New York including some bank holidaysWeekend and evening coverage as required Be able to provide incident and problem managementPerform weekend application upgrade, configuration and patching across multiple environments in line with requirements and proceduresRegular communications with client base to provide status updates, successful solutions as well as documenting all activities for future referenceBe able to manage communication/relationship with 3rd party vendorsPro-actively monitor alerts to respond to potential incidents in a timely fashion Work in a rotation to provide Sunday afternoon health checks and support for the FX market open in Asia Development of tools that can assist in day-to-day operations

What your Day may Look Like

Proactively monitor system healthiness, using monitoring tool Geneos or pickup automated alerts via chat or email. Escalate to development team or vendor if needed Respond to user query from client service, sales, trader or quants trading. Perform devops tasks e.g service migration, monitor setup Daily handover with EMEA team, and to APAC team if on late shift. Incident management and connect to other teams for issue caused by system outside of e-risk Perform housekeeping for server disk issue and review the housekeep job to improve the automated solution
