Job Description:
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Storage and Backup Engineer to join our IT team.
This role is responsible for managing and maintaining the organization's storage and backup infrastructure, ensuring data integrity, availability, and disaster recovery readiness.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of data storage systems, backup solutions, and a commitment to implementing industry best practices to protect our digital assets.
Key Responsibilities:
Storage Management:
Administer and support storage solutions such as SAN (Storage Area Network), NAS (Network-Attached Storage), and DAS (Direct-Attached Storage).
Monitor and maintain storage systems, ensuring high availability and optimal performance.
Implement storage provisioning, capacity planning, and performance tuning.
Troubleshoot storage-related issues and provide resolutions promptly.
Backup Solutions Management:
Oversee daily, weekly, and monthly backup jobs to ensure data integrity and consistency.
Monitor backup logs for errors and take corrective actions as needed.
Perform regular restoration tests to verify the integrity of backup systems and data recovery processes.
Disaster Recovery:
Develop, test, and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
Ensure that backup and restore procedures align with recovery objectives and SLA requirements.
Collaborate with the IT team to ensure timely restoration of critical services in the event of a system failure.
Capacity Planning & Scaling:
Monitor storage usage and project future capacity needs.
Assist in scaling storage and backup infrastructure based on organizational growth and evolving business needs.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain accurate documentation for all storage and backup configurations, processes, and procedures.
Generate regular reports on system health, backup success rates, and recovery tests.
Security & Compliance:
Ensure that backup and storage systems adhere to internal security policies and external regulatory requirements.
Implement and manage encryption for both data-at-rest and data-in-transit.
Collaboration:
Work closely with other IT teams, such as systems administration, networking, and security, to ensure a seamless integration of storage and backup systems across the organization.
