AdventHealth Winter Park is a hospital built for the community by the community. The land for the hospital was donated by the city of Winter Park.
Chartered in 1951, the hospital is a 320-bed acute care facility that is a model of community health and wellness, and a teaching hospital. We encourage our team members to grow professionally by providing educational opportunities, and resources.
We provide the most advanced care available with upscale and boutique care for Obstetrics, Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a state-of-the-art Emergency Room, comprehensive Cancer Care, advanced technology Surgical Services with 12 surgical specialties, a first-of-its-kind Inpatient Rehabilitation featuring high-tech training equipment, Surgical Orthopedic destination with a Dedicated Education unit, and Stroke and Ortho DNV Certified, to heal the community in the most comfortable way possible.
The city of Winter Park is filled with rich heritage and is located just three miles north of Orlando in Orange County. The city is known for its old-world charm, quaint bricked streets and is a nature lovers' destination. Its main street, called Park Avenue includes civic buildings, art galleries, a private liberal arts college, museums, parks, golf country clubs, boat launches and more.
Surgical Services
o Winter Parks Surgical department has 16 operating rooms and average about 40 surgeries a day.
o Their specialties include: General, GYN, Urology, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, ENT, Robotics.
o Utilizing four robots: De Vinci Si, Da Vinci Xi, Senhance, and Stryker Mako.

The role youll contribute:
Surgical technologists are an integral part of the team of medical practitioners providing surgical care to patients. Surgical technologists work under the supervision and delegatory authority of an RN and / or surgeon to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive and non-invasive surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. Surgical technologists are experts in the theory and application of the principles of asepsis and sterile technique to combine the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation and tools and technologies to facilitate a physicians performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. Adheres to the AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
The value youll bring to the team:
The surgical technologist handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. Demonstrates an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. Has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.
Preoperatively the surgical technologist gathers, checks and opens supplies and equipment needed for the surgical procedure. Anticipates additional instrumentation, equipment and supplies for usage during the procedure and ensures all items are functional and readily available.
Maintains strict aseptic technique and monitors all team members at the field and all activities to ensure no breaks in technique. This includes performance of the surgical hand scrub, donning gown and gloves, setting up of the sterile field, and draping for the procedure. Follows CDC isolation guidelines, appropriately uses PPE, and performs hand washing according to policy.
Performs instrument, sharps and sponge counts with the circulator as per policy.
Participates in the surgical site and patient verification during the time out procedure. Speaks up if there are any discrepancies or concerns for the patient.
* Terms: 12 month Employment Contract Required for Sign-On and Relocation

Applicable experience required.
Internal Candidates and Rehires within 12 months are not eligible.
Relocation Eligibility:
Must live 50 miles outside of campus address.
The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:
Minimum qualifications :
Graduate from school of surgical technology, LPN program, RN program, completion of a military training program that includes surgical technology skills or on the job training for surgical technology with 5 years of experience in an acute care OR setting.Preferred qualifications:
