Operating Engineer - Healthcare

What this job involves:

At JLL, we are seeking an experienced Operating Engineer to join our healthcare facilities team. In this role, you will be responsible for the comprehensive installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical equipment, controls, plumbing systems, and mechanical operating equipment throughout the building's interior and exterior. You'll conduct regular assessments of building systems operations, perform tests, complete monitoring rounds, and analyze data to ensure all mechanical and electrical systems function optimally. What your day-to-day will look like:Oversee and monitor operations of refrigeration, heat exchangers, HVAC, electrical systems, emergency backup systems and hot water systemsMake necessary adjustments to maintain refrigeration, chilled water, air conditioning equipment, boilers, ventilation systems, hot water heaters, pumps, valves, piping and filtersAnalyze system operations, identify root causes of malfunctions, and implement appropriate corrective actionsPerform scheduled preventive maintenance on base building and critical systems with minimal disruption to facility operationsInstall and repair plumbing, piping, and tubing; wire single and three-phase motors; run conduit and pull wiring to machineryInstall and rebuild pumps, motors, air compressors, and heat exchangers; replace bearings and pump sealsMaintain electrical controls, switching mechanisms, and motor controls to ensure reliable operationDocument equipment repairs, maintain accurate logs, close work orders, and communicate effectively with the Operations Manager and Lead EngineerRequired Qualifications:High school diploma or state equivalentMinimum of two years related trade schooling or two years of collegeFour years of experience in electrical, HVAC/refrigeration, or emergency backup systemsKnowledge of OSHA standards and local building codesStrong skills in using tools and machinery required for facility maintenanceAbility to complete painting, carpentry, and equipment repair under specific infection control conditionsCommitment to departmental policies for safe handling of hazardous materialsPhysical capability to perform technical maintenance work in various environmentsPreferred Qualifications:Experience in healthcare environmentsStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsExcellent customer service orientationTeam player with strong interpersonal skillsEffective oral and written communication abilitiesFamiliarity with computer equipment and maintenance softwareConsistent "meets expectations" or higher performance historyDedication to maintaining clean and safe work environments
