Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) Host & Specialist
Nexstar Media Group is seeking an experienced Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) specialist to independently manage hosting, producing, switching, editing, and uploading of daily and special video content, including live programming and breaking news. This person works for the corporate team and provides content for Nexstar local markets across the U.S. Responsibilities: + Provide “one man band” hosting, producing, switching, editing and uploading for daily and special project video content via OBS. + Planning and executing daily live video programming, including breaking news. + Set up interviews, gather information, needed b-roll and visual elements and prepare show rundowns or scripts as needed. + Develop OBS scene collections and work with graphics teams to help align production branding across all Nexstar platforms. + Evangelize best practices in show production and technical enhancements for OBS users across Nexstar’s markets. + Track show metrics to identify high value formats and opportunities for new programming. + Build positive working relationships with stakeholders in our local newsrooms to leverage opportunities to scale coverage across Nexstar. + Comfortable juggling multiple tasks both live on-stream and behind the scenes to include troubleshooting challenges as they arise + Interest in / willingness to learn and understand the IT and engineering elements of a successful livestream setup + Desire to experiment and innovate in an evolving digital space while maintaining professionalism and journalistic principles + High level attention to detail required to ensure polished OBS-driven products + Basic understanding of camera settings, studio lighting, and audio processing Skill/Experience Requirements: + 5-7 years of experience in video production with extensive on-camera experience and proven technical problem-solving skills. + 2-3 years of experience working with OBS or similar streaming software. + Self-starting demeanor with an ability to spot opportunities to capture audiences in a streaming format. + Understanding of key newsmakers and current issues. + Solid foundation in journalism ethics on issues such as copyright and attribution. + Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team format or as an individual contributor. + Aptitude for working cross-functionally and influencing people from different markets, backgrounds, and organizational structures. + Must be located in or willing to relocate to a Nexstar market that has a local newsroom with infrastructure and staffing for all dayparts + Requires a physical presence in the local facility to function in the role Nexstar Media Group, Inc.
