This position will be working in Hematology and Oncology department at the Chase Highway location in Waterbury (not at Saint Mary's Hospital campus).
Position Purpose
The oncology scheduler coordinates and schedules all oncology appointments for established patients such as, laboratory, chemotherapy infusion, blood products, Physician/APP, injections, nutrition, chemotherapy education, genetics, symptom management and survivorship appointments; as well as coordinating radiology studies, internal/external referral appointments as requested by providers, nurses, and other patient care team members. Scheduler must be able to greet and interact with patients, staff and public with a courteous attitude
What you will do
Greet patients, answer phones, schedule patients
Assist clinicians with pre-certifications/referrals, faxes and chart preparation
Ensure the provider's schedules are timely and accurate
Obtain accurate, timely registration and insurance information
Provide clerical support to physicians, clinicians, mid-level providers and staff
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent
College coursework in the secretarial or medical sciences preferred
Minimum of one year experience working in a physician’s office required, preferably in a similar capacity
Familiarity with medical terminology required
Ability to communicate well and listen effectively. Bilingual is preferred.
