**Purpose and Scope:**
In Program and Portfolio Management (PPM) we drive the planning and execution of drug development programs and provide transparent and unbiased program information in support of the enterprise needs to make the right portfolio decisions.
Due to the expanding portfolio, we are looking for an experienced Project Manager at the Associate Director level to join our PPM group at Astellas where you will be expected to lead highly complex internal or partnered projects, mentor junior Project Managers and contribute to functional excellence.
**Essential Job Responsibilities:**
+ Provide project management leadership and support to the Asset Team(s), Clinical Team(s) and/or Regional Project Team(s) to deliver the pipeline with optimal strategies, realistic plans, and seamless execution.
+ Manage stakeholders ensuring appropriate and timely communication on project progress and issues while working in partnership with the Asset Lead.
+ Coordinate high-quality deliverables in close collaboration with relevant Asset Team Members to minimize potential delays in development timelines.
+ Identify critical changes in the project deliverables (timelines, budget and/or outcome), assess their impact and communicate to the Asset Lead and relevant Asset Team Members.
+ Partner with team members to proactively identify, assess and manage project risks and mitigation plans, and monitor/report status of identified key risks, including escalation as appropriate.
+ Lead generation and maintenance of a complete and accurate project plan and forecast in the enterprise planning system (Helix) by liaising with relevant functions to ensure a realistic plan that reflects the strategy.
+ Drive retrospective project/process reviews to identify issues and strengths and help capture learnings.
+ Proactively identify improvement areas for existing processes to problem-solve and propose efficiencies for implementation and solutions for processes and/or organizational structures and policies.
+ Support functional level initiatives within PPM as needed, build and sustain collaborative relationships with internal and external Astellas stakeholders.
+ May serve as Regional Project Manager representing regional interests in alignment with global strategy.
+ Reports to the US Group Lead in Oncology PPM.
**Qualifications:**
**Required**
+ BA/BS in a science or business-related field, with extensive project management experience (5+ years) in the pharmaceutical industry including a strong foundation in oncology drug development.
+ Proven project management capabilities, including developing and managing timelines, budgets, risks as well as critical path analysis.
+ Proven ability to proactively lead, influence, and align cross-functional, multi-regional teams within highly matrixed and multicultural environments; experienced in managing project teams or consultants.
+ Ability to design, implement, and communicate complex systems effectively across the organization.
+ Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of personnel.
+ Demonstrates solid knowledge in establishing operational standards and using industry-standard tools such as MS Project, Excel, and enterprise project planning software; open to international travel as required.
**Preferred:**
+ Advanced degree (MBA, MS, or equivalent).
+ Knowledge of AGILE project delivery methodologies.
**Salary Range**
$150K – $195K (NOTE: Final salary could be more or less, based on experience)
