Oncology Clinical Program Manager

Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Clinical Program Manager Oncology will provide management, oversight, and direction for workflow and process development to support growth and meet everchanging needs of the oncology service line. Collaborates with members of hospital and Bon Secours Medical Group (BSMG) leadership to ensure processes optimize operational efficiencies to meet market key performance indicator goals and provide high quality patient care that meets Bon Secours Mercy Health (BSMH) and accreditation standards. They will successfully manage direct reports such as, clinical supervisors and clinical leads that oversee other areas (e.g., medical oncology, surgical oncology, radiation oncology, oncology support services (navigation, social work, dietitian, behavioral health).             

Essential Job Functions​

Guides continuous improvement by evaluating workflows and researching new opportunities for process improvement, efficiencies, and growth.

Promotes a multidisciplinary approach to oncology care by partnering with BSMG and BSMH leaders overseeing various departments (i.e. surgery, radiology, pathology, specialty practices) and providers to ensure alignment with market and system initiatives.

Develops and fosters effective collaboration between staff, departments, leadership & physicians to ensure an integrated approach to enhancing and developing services for oncology program.

Partners with BSMH quality departments (oncology, acute care, infectious disease, etc.) to foster and promote high quality care across the continuum of oncology services (prevention, education,  diagnosis, treatment, survivorship) and to meet various accreditation standards.

Continuously develops oncology support services to meet the complex needs of oncology patient population (dietitian, social work, behavioral health, navigation).

Develops and maintains partnership with population health to coordinate care transitions and ensure patients are connected to the appropriate service line based on their current clinical needs.

Proactively develops business by building positive relationships with referring and potential referring physicians.

Collaborates with BSMG & BSMH in developing policies for oncology service line.

Along with other service line leaders, develops processes to meet key initiatives and strategies for oncology program including but not limited to: Nurse Navigation, Oncology Survivorship, Oncology Rehabilitation, Surgical Oncology, Palliative Care, Oncology Support Services, High Risk Genetics. Oversees and supports clinical leadership in the implementation of said processes.

Presents clinical outcomes and progress as necessary. Key results may include: patient outcomes, productivity, patient satisfaction, complications, etc.

Fulfills position responsibilities and expectations by coaching, developing and empowering direct reports. Manages and supports clinical leadership in a manner that promotes collaborative and compassionate patient care and cross-departmental relationships.

Assumes additional administrative duties and competencies at the direction of the Director of Operations and may assume additional duties in the absence of the Practice Administrator/Manager and/or Director.

Licensing/Certification

BLS Basic Life Support – American Heart Association (required)

OCN Oncology Certified Nurse (preferred)

Education

Bachelor, Science Nursing (required)

Master, Nursing (preferred)

Work Experience

3 years' experience in acute care medical practice (required)

3 years' experience in Oncology (required) 

3 years' Advanced Practice Clinician experience (preferred)

Training

EPIC Electronic Health Record (preferred)
