On-site/System Engineer
**Overview** GovCIO is seeking a highly skilled and experienced On-Site System Engineer to oversee the management and maintenance of the Veterans Affairs IT infrastructure. This role requires expertise in troubleshooting hardware, software, and networking issues while ensuring optimal performance and security in daily operations. This requires on-site and remote work located Austin, Texas, United States at AITC. Core working hours are 8:00AM to 4:00PM CST. **Responsibilities** + Proactively monitor system performance, diagnose issues, and implement innovative solutions to enhance reliability and security. + Ensure rigorous security compliance by overseeing access controls, backups, and firewall management. + Lead the administration of network servers and technology tools, driving continuous improvement and scalability. + Establish and configure user accounts and workstations to support seamless organizational productivity. + Execute system upgrades, deploying new releases and tools to maintain cutting-edge technology standards. + Maintain detailed internal documentation of system configurations and policies to ensure clarity, consistency, and operational excellence. **Qualifications** **Required Skills and Experience:** + Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering or a related field with 8 years of relevant experience. + 1 to 3 years of experience as an On-Site System Engineer. + Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and firewall configurations. + Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with customers and internal cross-functional teams. + Proven problem-solving and analytical abilities. + Excellent communication and collaboration skills. **Preferred Skills and Experience:** + Familiarity with Agile methodologies and project management tools. + Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure. **Clearance Required** **  **    + Ability to obtain and maintain a suitability/Public Trust \#TAPS **Company Overview** GovCIO is a team of transformers--people who are passionate about transforming government IT.
