This role is accountable for aligning OM Bank’s technology strategy with the organization’s broader business objectives. The individual will lead the strategic planning, execution, and ongoing management of technology systems and data services, ensuring they are secure, efficient, and scalable to meet future growth. A key responsibility is to ensure that IT and data capabilities directly support and enhance business outcomes across core functions. This includes, but is NOT limited to, driving innovation and operational excellence across Finance, Risk (Credit, Fraud, Collections, RiskOps), IA, Compliance and HR

KEY RESULT AREAS

Integration Strategy & Planning

Develop the integration strategy to align with business and technical objectives.Ensure each Key focus area capability roadmap is well defined, including the technology Partner roadmap.Producing Strategy and roadmap documentationLead strategic projects and digital transformation initiatives across interdependent areasPlan and oversee system integration projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.Identify emerging technologies and trends to drive innovation and competitive advantage.Maintain a capabilities taxonomy for each Key area with why we have this capability, what it is.Ensure that you have Enterprise architecture diagram to represent Key Areas and how each technology partner, and inbuilt services work togetherEnsure that tech and data integrations are aligned to Standards

Data & Technical Oversight

Ensure that technology and data solutions are robust, scalable, and cost-effective.Make key decisions on software development methodologies, tools, and infrastructure.Oversee delivery of tech and data services from ideation to Production working with OM Bank’s relevant Op Model process e.g. SDLC; DPLC.Drive the adoption of modern data architectures and technologies.Maintain relentless curiosity of how services are delivering in production. If there is under performance, ensure reviews of solution and changes backlogged.This requires Analytics dashboards to be driven and implemented, to provide insights on how each Key Area is doing.

Product & Engineering Collaboration

Work closely with product owners to align technology and data with product goals.Help prioritize data and engineering tasks and participate in advising resource allocation effectively.Ensure that new builds are delivered on time, within scope, and at the highest quality.

Compliance & Governance

Ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, and ethical standards related to technology.Ensure integrations meet security standards, including encryption, authentication, and data privacy.Maintain Data Sharing process across the organisation and external data partners Relationship managementCollaborate with senior leadership to align tech and data initiatives with business priorities.Act as a bridge between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.Work with senior leadership to identify strategic opportunities and provide insights for business growth.Interact with Partner senior leadership to understand their roadmaps and provide OM Banks technical requirements to influence their roadmaps.Work closely with OM Bank’s Architecture Practise and ensure knowledge sharing.

 Team Leadership and Development

Build, manage, and mentor cross-functional teams (e.g., IT, data engineers)Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.Set clear goals and KPIs for teams and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.

Budget and Resource Management

Develop and manage the technology and data services budget.Optimize resources to ensure cost-effective delivery of technology solutions.Monitor ROI of major technology initiatives and platforms.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or related fields.Minimum of 10 years of experience in tech and data related roles (e.g, Architecture, Data Engineering, Analytics)Minimum of 5 years of experience in Technology and Data Leadership role within financial services or banking sectorStrategic thinking and business acumen ·Deep knowledge of software architecture, cloud platforms, and data ecosystems ·Leadership in both technology and data engineering domains ·Strong understanding of data privacy, ethics, and compliance ·Excellent communication and stakeholder management Technical Expertise ·Proven experience in leading the design, development, and delivery of data products and platforms.Cloud architecture and infrastructure (AWS (weighted given OM Bank is currently deployed in AWS), Azure, Google) ·Strong understanding of modern data architectures, including data lakes, data warehouses, and data mesh. ·Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance frameworks (e.g. POPIA, GDPR) ·Experience with modern data stacks (e.g., Snowflake, dbt, Airflow) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) Leadership and Management ·Extensive experience in building and leading cross-functional teams in data analytics or data technology teams. ·Excellent project management skills with a track record of delivering complex initiatives on time and within budget. ·Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical audience. ·Proven experience leading teams in an agile environment.
