Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced research professional to join the Oliver Wyman Knowledge Department. You will work closely with partners and consultants in the Consumer, Telco & Technology group (CTT) to support secondary research efforts, and ensure successful delivery of client work focused on strategic advisory.
Oliver Wyman's CTT practice provides an array of capabilities to support consumer facing businesses, such as retailers and consumer goods, as well as technology, communications, media and services. Our clients consist of corporations, including telecoms, technology companies, B2B and B2C entities and strategic investors.
Key Responsibilities
Work with a wide range of information tools and proprietary databases, providing both quick solutions and in-depth research for the business.
Synthesize information and glean key concepts and trends from the information, provide your own point of view and basic insights into the deliverables. The ability to think critically and develop the most efficient solutions to information requirements is key in this role.
Collaborate with consultants engaged in client service, business development or intellectual capital building by delivering highly relevant and well-synthesized research.
Directly engage in strategic projects, together with our research specialists and consultants, contribute to updates and support our consultants with planning and execution of on-demand research projects as well as the interpretation, evaluation, and preparation of results.
Develop strong trusted relationships with practice members and research colleagues to promote effective knowledge sharing and a positive work environment.
Independently manage the pipeline of industry-specific tasks, set priorities, and collaborate with a team of international colleagues to meet client demands. You will be required to exercise independent judgment to solve internal client demands. This will involve prioritizing your own work to satisfy competing needs and building excellent task management and time management skills.
Use MS Office tools to produce graphical portrayal of research findings, customized to project needs
Experience and Skills Required
5-8 years’ experience working in a research environment, providing business information on multiple sectors.
Experience of working with specialised data sources is essential. For example: Gartner, Forrester, Omdia, Capital IQ, Mergermarket, Factiva, Pitchbook, Bloomberg, LSEG and other databases.
Strong grasp (or interest in) technology, telco, media and/or consumer sectors
Ability to operate under pressure with tight deadlines to meet the needs of a high paced globally focused.
Ability to manage several tasks effectively while prioritising and managing your own time.
Creative problem-solving skills and inquisitive nature with tenacious drive to solve complex research challenges
Ability to think creatively and propose new ideas or methodologies for research
Innate curiosity and initiative
Strong desire to be a part of a high-growth, entrepreneurial environment with willingness to suggest and test new ideas / ways of working
Excellent communication skills and research synthesis skills allow you to draw out key insights and to provide basic data analysis.
The ability to apply Generative AI tools to enhance efficiency and quality of research deliverables
Excellent Excel skills. Proficiency with rest of MS Office suite. Familiarity with tools such as Excel, Tableau, SQL, etc. for data manipulation and analysis
