Role Overview:
The Knowledge Services (KS) Research department supports our firm by planning and executing research projects across topics and industries. This included the interpretation and evaluation of data as well as the preparation of results. We are currently seeking a Research Associate who will be focused on the Banking & Financial Services sectors.
As a Research Associate, you will partner closely with our Private Capital (PC) business supporting secondary research efforts to ensure successful delivery of client work focused on diligence projects as well as other corporate finance and advisory projects. The PC business is fast paced as Oliver Wyman serves private equity firms and their portfolio companies with a focus on delivering a differentiated return on investment across the investment cycle. The team is looking for support of commercial due diligences and portfolio commercial effectiveness and operations work. This internal research role will support client project delivery and work closely and collaboratively with our Private Capital consultant teams.
This role will also require you to provide ad-hoc and programmatic analysis of key business drivers related to financial services and fintech industry themes across industries in support of both client projects and business development efforts. You will be encouraged to take advantage of our firm’s learning and development curriculum for ongoing professional development.
Key Responsibilities:
Scope and develop project research needs, conduct timely, accurate and cost-effective research.
Deliver compelling well-synthesized research deliverables created from multiple sources that glean key concepts and trends.
Manage large data sets and conduct basic data analysis.
Take ownership and lead customized research products / services, including identifying opportunities for customized research products / services, sector/company fact packs, benchmarks, trend analysis or support for our published reports
Demonstrate strong collaboration skills. You will need to excel at sharing ideas with both our internal clients and colleagues in our global Knowledge Services team
Adhere to firm work standards and processes
Experience Required:
3-5 years of prior related research experience in a bank, financial services firm, consultancy or research vendor as an analyst or researcher
Knowledgeable about developments in the banking or other financial services sectors
Degree-educated, with an economist or finance-focused degree
Strong project management skills
Evidence of a collaborative approach in previous roles with an advanced service orientation.
Technical Skills:
High Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
Strong critical thinker with high technical aptitude who can work comfortable with large data sets.
Familiarity with databases focused covering the financial services segment such as Bloomberg, LESG, S&P CAPIQ Pro /CAPIQ, Factiva, Dealogic…
Skills and Attributes:

Strong interest and knowledge of the financial services sector

The applicable base salary range for this role is $75,000 to $135,000 USD.
The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
