Oliver Wyman is now looking to recruit an Practice Manager (Internal Strategy) for Energy and Financial Services, to join our Middle East office and be part of our IMEA (India Middle East Africa) team!


The role will be based out of Dubai office.

Business Impact Team Overview:
 

The Business Impact Team (BIT) serves as a strategic cornerstone of our organization, bridging the gap between consulting operations and essential support functions. Led by the Chief of Staff and Head of Business Impact Team, we orchestrate the region's strategic direction and operational governance.

Our scope of work is very broad and strategic. Collaborating closely with the Region Head, we design and implement strategic initiatives that align with our growth ambitions. We facilitate high-level management and governance meetings to drive actionable outcomes. We ensure effective operations of markets and practices, ensuring compliance with market-specific regulations and efficient management of large-scale practices/markets. Additionally, we lead the business development function, covering both the administrative aspects of RFP operations and the strategic elements of market positioning and client outreach. Through these efforts, the Business Impact Team empowers the organization to achieve its strategic objectives while fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
 

Job Overview:
 

The Business Impact Manager for Energy and Natural Resources (ENR) and Financial Services (FS) is a newly established role within the IMEA Business Impact Team at Oliver Wyman, designed to provide strategic support to these major industry practices. You will collaborate with the Regional Practice Head of ENR and FS to develop and execute initiatives that align with regional objectives. Please note that the role requires you to split your time and capacity between ENR and FS practice tasks.
 

Key responsibilities include providing strategic, analytical, and operational support to practice heads, managing daily operations, and serving as the primary contact for practice inquiries. You will identify and implement improvement opportunities while adhering to global and regional processes and KPIs. Additionally, you will coordinate with support functions such as Talent Management, Marketing, and Business Development to share insights and assist the IMEA Chief of Staff and Head of BIT in advancing the overall IMEA strategic agenda.
 

Key Responsibilities:
 

Practice Management

Serve as the central contact for practice staff and support departments to ensure and facilitate effective management of the practice

Assist the practice heads with strategy execution and operational tasks, plan and review communications from practice heads

Plan, prepare and drive key internal practice meetings e.g., partner meetings, all staff updates, training, events, track actions items from the meetings

Support global initiatives and meetings for the practice, as and when needed

Account Planning

Design, collate, assess and monitor account plans from all key accounts/platforms

Facilitate needs (in the form of investment or capacity) for account growth

Support and work closely with the IMEA BD Manager, to analyze and interpret pipeline, won/lost opportunities and identify improvement areas

Coordination with other support functions

Act as a strong bridge between practice head and support functions e.g., Talent Management, EA, Communications, Finance, Controllership, Knowledge Services, Events

Work closely with TM on talent topics e.g., affiliations, performance management, staffing, oversee team allocations and account structures

Assess the right size of pyramid and allocate / re-allocate affiliated staff as per client needs

Business Impact Support

Represent the practices within the IMEA Business Impact Team.

Support the IMEA BIT team with practice level process implementation, roll out and follow up such as annual CIT review, Partner year end process, utilization review, capacity management and other critical business processes

Support change initiatives and manage the social calendar with the events team.

Monitor team sentiment and connect relevant topics across the business.

Experience and Skills required:

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

Experience: 4 - 5+ years in a strategic role; experience in consulting or professional services desirable.

Skills:

Ownership mentality with a strong impact focus

Initiative and a can-do attitude, with a willingness to embrace new challenges.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to manage a varied workload with conflicting priorities and meet deadlines.

Strong judgment and problem-solving skills, particularly under pressure and adhoc tasks

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with colleagues of all levels

Collaborative team player with a positive attitude and adaptability to change.

Experience dealing with confidential and business critical issues

Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; knowledge of advanced data analysis is a plus
