Old Forester Distillery Quality Control Specialist

We will give our consumers a look into how Old Forester comes to life and each team member will be responsible for ensuring the integrity and authenticity of this experience as they interact with our consumers throughout their visit to our Homeplace. **Meaningful Work From Day One:** Under the leadership of the Old Forester Distillery Operations Manager, the Quality Control Specialist is responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance, training, and compliance of the Food Safety and Quality Systems for Old Forester Distillery. Coordinates and directs activities in the sampling, treatment, and adjustment of spirits to support daily production. Acts as a liaison between QC and operations to ensure adequate support to meet quality standards, production schedule and efficiency targets. Responsible for directing the qualitative analysis of raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods samples collected throughout the spirits manufacturing process. Has ultimate authority regarding chemical analysis, treatment, adjustment, and approval for production. **What You Can Expect:** ● Directs processes and material quality control of incoming raw and test materials. ● Monitors and ensures product quality throughout production, packaging, and cooperage. ● Coordinates sampling, treatment, and adjustments for daily production needs. ● Implements and maintains the food safety management system and relevant certifications (e.g., SQF). ● Conducts qualitative analysis on raw materials, intermediates, and product samples, ensuring adherence to standards. ● Leads Quality Control activities, including product and finished goods quality control, and sanitation. ● Partners with operations and packaging teams to meet established material and product quality specifications. ● Ensures execution of internal and external audits and follows up on corrective actions. ● Monitors production paperwork and package appearance on bottling lines, addressing discrepancies and holding materials as necessary. ● Oversees lab equipment maintenance and quality programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal requirements. ● Backup support during holidays, weekends, or other operational needs. **What You Bring to the Table:** ● Bachelor’s degree in a science discipline such as Chemistry, Engineering, Food Science, Biology or related field and a minimum 3 years of experience in beverage/food industry in quality control. ● Knowledge of analytical methods and laboratory procedures, including general laboratory equipment. ● Food safety training (SQF, FSSC 22000, BRC). ● PCQI certification or must be able to obtain it within 6 months of hire date. ● Demonstrated ability to apply comprehensive knowledge of analytical procedures and techniques to the completion of complex assignments. **What Makes You Unique:** ● Demonstrated olfactory/sensory discriminating skill. **Who We Are:** We believe great people build great brands.
