Located in Erie, PA, this vital role supports our cardiology office, helping provide the highest level of care to our patients. This position offers a consistent weekday schedule — Monday through Friday, either 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with no weekends or holidays required. Flexibility is available to support work-life balance. As an Office Assistant I, you’ll work closely with our clinical team and providers to support patients through scheduling appointments, registering patients, scanning and obtaining medical records, and delivering outstanding service in person and over the phone. Experience in appointment scheduling, registration, and working in a medical office setting is preferred. If you’re passionate about making a difference in patient care and want to grow within a leading healthcare organization, we encourage you to apply today! _Title and starting pay rate of this position may vary based on years of experience and manager discretion._ **Responsibilities:** + Verify necessary information and records in the medical record and computerized scheduling system. + Schedule, coordinate, and reschedule patient's appointments. Relay necessary messages to staff and providers. + Greet and register patients in a polite, prompt, helpful manner. Provide any necessary instructions/directions. Inform appropriate department/person of person's arrival performing appropriate check-in and check-out functions. + Maintain clean, orderly waiting area including beverage area and reading materials. + Prepare patient charts for upcoming appointments. + Answer telephone, screen calls, take messages, and provide information. + Maintain and update current information on physician's schedules ensuring that patients are scheduled properly and appointments are confirmed. + Complete necessary paperwork such as encounter forms and referrals. Use computer system to generate information necessary for billing. + Answer questions regarding patient appointments and testing. + Comply with all UPMC Health System policies and procedures. Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data. + Utilize appropriate modules of the automated financial management system for scheduling, information verification, entering charges, co-payment collection/reconciliation, and other tasks. Required: + High school diploma or GED is required. + One (1) year work experience, preferably in a medical office setting. Preferred: + Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. + Word processing and computer experience preferred. + Appointment scheduling, medical records, and registration experience preferred. **Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:** + Act 34 **UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran**
