Join Our Team as a Full-Time Office Assistant I – UPMC Summit and Grandview Family Practices

UPMC’s Summit Family Practice and Grandview Family Practice are seeking a Full-Time Office Assistant I to provide essential support across both locations in Erie, PA. This role offers a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with no weekends or holidays required, and includes regular travel between both practices.

In this key role, you will help ensure a positive experience for our patients by efficiently scheduling appointments, answering phones, and providing front desk coverage. You will also assist patients in person and over the phone, gather and enter complete demographic and insurance information, and communicate with various departments to support smooth day-to-day operations. Excellent customer service skills are a must, and experience in a medical office setting is preferred.

Responsibilities:

Verify patient information and medical records in the scheduling system. Schedule, coordinate, and reschedule patient appointments while relaying messages to staff and providers. Greet and register patients promptly and politely, providing directions and performing check-in and check-out procedures. Maintain a clean and organized waiting area, including beverage and reading materials. Prepare patient charts in advance for upcoming appointments. Answer and screen phone calls, take messages, and provide accurate information to callers. Maintain and update physician schedules to ensure proper appointment coordination and confirmation. Complete paperwork such as encounter forms and referrals, and use systems for billing, charge entry, and co-payment reconciliation.
