Scholarships & Student Aid Office

McGill’s Scholarship and Student Aid Office (SSAO) advises McGill students on funding options, budgeting, and debt management. They disburse all provincial, federal, and US student aid funding, and help with government aid information and documentation. They offer an Entrance Bursary Program, Entrance Scholarships, an In-Course Financial Aid Program (loans and bursaries) and a Work Study Program based on financial need.


Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Client Service Manager, the incumbent is responsible for answering inbound calls, assisting the Front-Line Team in servicing students, and providing generic information. Moreover, some administrative tasks, such as translations or updating documents, may be requested.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Phone receptionist: Answer incoming calls from students, parents and the general public. Relay important student aid information to clients based on information on our website and partner units websites.Photocopying, faxing, shredding, and general filing. However, not limited to these tasks.Currently registered as a full-time student in a degree program at McGillWork Study Eligible StudentsService oriented with great interpersonal skillsExcellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task, problem-solve and work independently and as part of a teamExceptional written and oral communication skills in English, French an asset.Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where the day-to-day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level 3-written (Advanced) and a level 4-spoken (Fluent) on a scale of 0-4.

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities

ENGLISH and FRENCH spoken is a must. 

Be familiar with MS Office Suite.

Must be customer focused and service oriented, have pleasant telephone manners, patience and professionalism.

Ability to work autonomously and as a member of a team
