BASF’s Coatings division is a global expert in the development, production and marketing of innovative and sustainable automotive OEM and refinish coatings. Reporting to the Director of Global Key Accounts for GM/Ford. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the Director of Global American Accounts of Global Technical / Engineering projects and submissions for a key American Account. This project management role involves coordination with our BASF Technical organization and OEM customers throughout North America and other regions.
The role requires a moderate to advanced degree of technical, commercial, and business acumen necessitating working across multiple hierarchies both inside BASF and with our OEM customers. We look for you to be a self-starter with strong organizational / communication and analytical skills. The role will also require a moderate degree of long-term strategic thinking. This role will be primarily on site at our Southfield, MI Coatings Research Center.
**What you'll be doing:**
+ Being the key contact for Customer Material Engineering and Product Development teams in North America and globally.
+ Leading and supporting global technology approvals with customers to ensure cost targets and timelines are met.
+ Managing and prioritizing lab projects (R&D and customization) through digital tools, driving cost targets in North America and across regions.
+ Driving and supporting profitable growth through continuous improvement, implementing cost savings on existing products, and providing direction as the Voice of the Customer for development and innovation projects.
+ Working closely with operations to prioritize and execute efficient projects.
+ Supporting paint shop launches and troubleshooting projects both internally and externally.
+ Identifying key business risks, proposing mitigation measures, and uncovering opportunities to manage BASF’s risk related to current and future materials and technical advancements.
+ Leading a small team and fostering the development of its members.
**If you...**
+ Hold a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a scientific or business discipline and have 5-10 years relevant expertise, or you have 8+ years relevant epertise and a college degree
+ Have 5 or more years of experience in Coatings
+ Bring leadership experience (Preffered)
+ Possess technical acumen for understanding coatings formulations and Customer Engineering Tests
+ Excel at responding to and resolving problems with a strong customer focus and analytical thinking
+ Build relationships through team leadership and collaboration
+ Demonstrate project management skills including communication, presentation, and meeting facilitation
+ Take initiative and act with an entrepreneurial mindset
+ Apply business and financial acumen effectively
