Description of Job
The Work Unit:
The Health Facilities and Emergency Medical Services Division (HFEMSD) is responsible for the oversight and enforcement of a broad range of federal and state statutes and regulations applicable to a wide variety of healthcare facilities and services in Colorado, including hospitals, clinics, ambulatory surgical facilities, renal dialysis centers, emergency medical services providers, designated and non-designated trauma centers, long term care facilities and many other specific types of healthcare services. The division licenses, certifies and surveys healthcare facilities and services; provides patient safety and healthcare quality programs; recognizes emergency medical service (EMS) education programs; certifies EMS providers and licenses air and ground ambulance services operating within the state.
The work unit exists to collect and record occurrence reports submitted by licensed facilities/agencies and assess the report findings to determine if appropriate actions were taken as required by statute(s). Per statute, the work unit is also responsible for creating publicly available summary reports for all events that are determined to meet the reporting criteria.
Summary of Position:
The position exists to analyze, intake and summarize assigned occurrence reports, as required by statute(s). The position assesses report findings to determine if the event meets the required reporting criteria, if action(s) taken by the facility/agency are reasonably sufficient to prevent similar future events, and if the report falls under the jurisdiction of other external departments/agencies. Once all pertinent findings from the occurrence reports are identified, this position creates a written public summary report of the occurrence, and the preventative actions taken by the licensee.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience Only:
Six (6) years of applicable health care experience in a facility or program regulated by the Health Facilities and Emergency Medical Services Division/CDPHE or closely related experience.
OR
Education and Experience:
A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position equal to six (6) years such as:
- bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in social work, nursing, health care administration, public health, gerontology, or another closely related field
- an additional two (2) years of applicable health care experience in a facility or program regulated by the Health Facilities and Emergency Medical Services Division/CDPHE or closely related experience.
This experience and education must be substantiated within the Work Experience & Education section of your application.
