Occupational Therapist (OT)

Summary
Provides professional patient care through occupational therapy by evaluating, planning, implementing, and documenting treatment. Develops and administers rehabilitation programs based on physician prescriptions, patient history, and evaluation findings. Selects activities tailored to the patient’s needs, interests, and treatment goals. Instructs and collaborates with Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTA/OTA) and supervises them in carrying out therapy programs. Ensures timely and accurate documentation and billing. All care is provided in compliance with the rehabilitation department’s philosophy, The Joint Commission, State Practice Acts, and the American Occupational Therapy Association.

Education

Must be a graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program with the following degree requirements:

Bachelor’s degree if graduated before 1/1/2002

Master’s degree required if graduated after 1/1/2002

International candidates must hold at least a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy

Master’s degree preferred

Licensure/Certification

Must hold or be eligible for an Occupational Therapy license in the state of practice within 90 days of employment

CPR certification required within 90 days of employment

Must maintain all required certifications and licensure

American Occupational Therapy Association membership preferred

Valid driver’s license required if assigned to drive a company vehicle; proof of insurance required if driving a personal vehicle

Experience

Clinical experience from an educational training program required; additional work experience preferred

Other Qualifications

Ability to lift 50 pounds; shared lifting of up to 100 pounds

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Flexibility to work at multiple locations as needed
