QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy Registered and in good standing with College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario Experience working with individuals with neurological/movement disorders and/or brain injury in a residential, clinical, community or health care setting Preference of at least three years providing Occupational Therapy in the automobile insurance sector CPR / First Aid certificate Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certificate Flexibility regarding hours worked including evening, week-ends and morning coverage for home assessments and rehabilitation Driver’s license / vehicle for travel between locations

The ideal candidate will also possess the following\: 

Knowledge and/or experience working with individuals across the rehabilitation spectrum – minimally conscious / total care to mental health issues, dual diagnoses, behavioural issues, chronic pain, and addictions Conflict resolution skills and ability to work with clients and team members towards solutions; addressing issues such as verbal aggression, physical and environmental aggression, elopement, socially and sexually inappropriate behaviours Coma Stimulation, Mindfulness, DBT and CBT training  Experience with hospital discharge planning, medical legal report writing and Future Care Cost Assessments  Willingness to participate and host training sessions Willingness to work at various residential locations as well as in the community as needed Strong communication (oral and written) and exceptional interpersonal and decision-making skills Ability to work independently and effectively collaborate with a team Ability to stay organized and complete tasks within allocated time frames Technology proficiency Commitment to continual learning, upgrading and enhancing skills

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Initial evaluation of each client according to department guidelines.   Provision of direct treatment or consultant services for each client.   Maintain documentation of services according to program policies and report writing.   Attendance at meetings, including staff meetings, clinical meetings, and team meetings.   Participation in and contribution to all aspects of the program including functional life skills training, residential ADLs, functional rehabilitation and community assessment and treatment.   Full responsibility, compliance, accountability for all aspects of the clients OT Assessments, treatment, and program in conjunction with the College and Association.   Creative clinical programming to suit the needs of the clients ICS NRIO serves.   Understanding of funders and requirements\: WSIB, WCB, MVA, Ministry, Private to include Form 1s, reporting, GOSE, Signing off on the OCF 18, etc.   Other OT related duties as assigned.   Providing clear direction and support to Managers and / or front line staff which may include a variety of treatment modalities, scripts, strategies, and techniques.      Developing a good relationship with all referral sources, clients and their families, and extended members of the team such as the doctors, specialists, and other allied health professionals.   Exemplary customer service, professional and outstanding communication.   Adhering to Bayshore ICS Policies and Procedures. Participating in quality activities and continuous improvement initiatives in keeping with the company's Quality Management System. Participating in proactive Health & Safety activities while performing all duties, notifying immediate supervisor of any Health & Safety risks or concerns. Maintaining confidentiality of client and corporate information and discussing same only with appropriate Bayshore personnel. Completing other tasks as requested.
