Location: Yellowknife, Hay River, Lutsel K’e, Behchoko, Whati, Gameti, Wekweeti, Fort Smith, Fort Simpson, Norman Wells, Inuvik, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver
Status: Permanent Full Time. Fly-In, Fly-Out Remote Site, 2-Week Rotation. 

 

Please note: Preference will be given to Members of the Deninu Kué, Lutsel K’e Dene First Nation, North Slave Métis Alliance, Northwest Territory Métis Nation, Tlicho Government, or Yellowknives Dene First Nation, followed by non-indigenous residents of the Northwest Territories.

The Occupational Health Technician will be responsible for coordinating the day-to-day functions of the medical clinic at a remote client worksite.

Occupational Health Responsibilities:

 

Conduct periodic medical surveillance scheduling, testing for client employees and contractors designated in a Similar Exposed Group (SEG’s), other high-risk groups (e.g. Emergency Response Team, Crane Operators) and at the request of the Physician Assistant, ensuring accurate and high quality data entry using the electronic medical record (EMR) Perform periodic health assessments for employees and long-term contractors Provide medical examination and medical treatment support as directed by the Physician Assistant  Provide support within scope to the Emergency Response Team as required Provide inventory management and control services Complete and/or assist with different tests that the incumbent is competent and certified to perform such as; drug testing, alcohol testing, hearing and vision testing Test clients for Pulmonary Function, Audiometric Testing Create, update and share different reports Provide administrative support in clinic as needed Other duties as assigned

 

 

Qualifications

Primary Care Paramedic or Canadian Armed Forces Medical Technician QL5 (minimum)  Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to prioritize workload In addition, the following certifications are an asset. If not certified, must be willing and eligible to become certified:
CPR (HCP level)  First Aid (intermediate or Advanced) International Trauma Life Support (Basic or Advanced) Audiometric certification Spirometry certification DOT Drug and Alcohol Collector Certification  MROA designation is an asset, but not required

 

Experience & Technical Competencies

 

Minimum of 5 years’ current experience in a health care setting High level of discretion and comprehensive understanding of confidential/privacy protected information Experience with medical scheduling and filing systems  Experience working in a remote medical facility / mine site or other industrial setting is preferred
