Occupational Health Manager

Robert Walters are delighted to be partnering with a global financial services firm in their search for a Occupational Health Manager, covering EMEA. The successful individual will play a key role in delivering occuational health services to support their colleagues and enable them to thrive at work. They will work directly with employees, people managers, Employee Relations, People & Culture (P&C) partners, and regional and global workplace health and safety colleagues. Previous experience in financial services or professional services is a must.

Key Responsibilities:

Supporting Employees

Assist employees in addressing physical, psychological, and social challenges affecting their health and performance. Develop inclusive solutions to eliminate barriers, ensuring accessibility for all. Conduct individual assessments to identify specific health and wellbeing needs. Manage long-term illness absences with continued communication and support.

Advising the Business

Provide guidance to management on individual health cases, including reasonable adjustments, return-to-work plans, and absence management. Collaborate with Employee Relations and P&C on occupational health cases and broader employment concerns. Align occupational health programs with organisational objectives. Analyse business operations to identify health and safety risks. Address common health issues and areas for improvement. Ensure health initiatives enhance productivity and employee retention. Oversee group income protection insurance claims and work with Benefits colleagues to inform policy renewals and negotiations.

Health & Safety Oversight

Manage the WHS framework, covering hazard identification, risk mitigation, first aid, ergonomics, and psychological health and safety. Act as the key escalation point for incident and accident reporting and review.

Workplace Health & Safety Expertise

Provide analysis, specialist knowledge, and strategic advice on current trends, research, and evidence to enhance internal workplace health and safety frameworks, including psychosocial risk management. Collaborate with regional and global workplace health and safety teams to drive consistency and best practices. Oversee reporting and governance activities, including reviewing, analysing, and developing compliance and regulatory reports, both internal and external.

Skills required:

Proven track record in delivering occupational health services within a corporate environment, encompassing health program management, assessments, promotion, and regulatory compliance. Background as a registered nurse or other healthcare professional (such as an occupational therapist, physiotherapist, or psychologist), with an occupational health qualification being desirable. Strong knowledge of employment laws and health and safety regulations. Strategic thinker with a talent for decision-making and developing innovative solutions in complex environments Proactive and adaptable approach to managing diverse tasks. Skilled in negotiation and risk management, working proactively to resolve issues. Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to deliver high-quality work within tight deadlines. Strong relationship-building skills, fostering trust with stakeholders across the business and external partners.
