+ Target setting: Undertake benchmarking, set targets at vehicle, system, and component level to enable internal, regulatory, and public domain safety performance
+ Content specification: Define vehicle and restraints content to enable program targets
+ Occupant safety CAE simulation: LS-Dyna simulation with pre and post processing tools, including issue resolution, development and optimization of vehicle interior, seatbelts, and airbags for occupant injury criteria
+ Test Planning: Liaison with PMTs to organize safety test planning at sub system and full vehicle level
+ Logistics: Support test logistics globally to ensure right parts, right place at the right time
+ Execution of tests: Supervision of testing to ensure execution to the right specification, to right quality level and in a timely manner
+ Analysis: Analyse test data and use observation to draw correct conclusions from the tests.
+ Decision making: Use the test/CAE data conclusions to draw together proposals to recommend to management or if possible/necessary decide independently
+ Implementation: Supervise the implementation of the design modifications resulting from the test decision making
+ Closure: Test to demonstrate compliance to target and feedback via formal reports to the organization
The candidate must:
+ have a detailed understanding of how to set and achieve the most demanding occupant safety targets
+ have the ability to clearly, calmly and effectively communicate conclusions drawn from analyses
+ work closely with the senior occupant engineers, the structural CAE safety team and other engineering teams to achieve the program targets
+ actively seek out, understand and implement global best practice in occupant safety methodology
+ be able to critique CAE, correlate CAE and analyse physical test results to seek out quality issues/improvements
+ work with all other engineering teams to understand and resolve occupant safety related design issues.
+ be able to organize and track testing and analysis projects
+ effectively run meetings and agendas
+ continually improve understanding of crash occupant kinematics, impact biomechanics and changing crash requirements globally
+ have the drive to take ownership of the attribute and lead the team to resolve issues & achieve their targets
+ Minimum bachelor degree in Engineering or related discipline (e.g. Aero / Mech Eng) with 5 or above years of work experience, MS or PhD. preferred;
+ Using commercial crash software, preferably using Ls-Dyna, ANSA, Primer, Hyperworks and/or equivalent
