OBD Test Engineer
Job Title: OBD Test EngineerJob Description Coordinate durability vehicle testing for the Passenger Car, VAN, and AMG durability test fleets. The main focus is to create high-quality test results efficiently and swiftly. The key targets of durability testing include the evaluation of the overall vehicle, validation of powertrain and drivetrain systems, and conducting software and hardware validation, OBD diagnostics, and emissions testing. Responsibilities + Manage mileage accumulation for 15-20 vehicles in durability testing programs, including driving profiles, locations, and required maintenance. + Lead service supplier business development, focusing on work quality, capacity planning, staffing, and cost minimization. + Monitor and control work output and driver testing for all service providers. + Identify and evaluate vehicle faults using diagnostic tools and lead problem-solving activities. + Act as a technical lead for fleet durability issues, providing technical analysis and resolution. + Report vehicle status in all necessary forms and databases, maintaining internal Key Process Indicators. + Propose and manage root cause identification and vehicle repair processes to ensure testing continuity. + Control processes from part logistics to effectiveness checks, including workshop orders. + Lead weekly and monthly meetings and reports with customers and internal departments. + Control detailed invoices from external service providers and internal partners, managing the overall program budget. + Participate in continuous process improvements for internal and external processes. + Act as a lead for process documentation, corrective action reports, process improvements, and audit participation. Essential Skills + OBD Emissions Testing + OBD Compliance + Automotive Knowledge: Detailed knowledge of automobile technology, vehicle architecture, assembly structure, modules and parts. + Diagnostic Knowledge: Experience with common diagnostic tools and CAN bus systems. + Project Management Skills: Ability to control projects from conceptualization to implementation. + Interpersonal and Team Skills: Experience in an intercultural environment and complex organizational structure. + Analytical or Systems Engineering Knowledge: Skills to identify issues, analyze problems, and develop solutions. + Organization and Leadership Skills: Ability to organize workflows within the TechCenter and with external partners. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Automotive, or Mechanical Engineering with 3 years of experience, or a Master's degree with 1 year of experience. + Experience with ETAS, INCA, Python, and Matlab. + Experience in automotive systems and vehicle electrical systems. + Driving a vehicle is required for this position. Work Environment This position requires in-depth automotive knowledge beyond testing, with an understanding of car mechanics. There are no specific physical requirements for this role. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $52.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
