About the Role

Are you ready to be part of the engine room of risk at Rabobank CBNZ? We’re looking for a dynamic and experienced Risk Specialist to join our first line risk team.

This pivotal role supports all Country Banking NZ business activities so that the business remains in control, compliant, and aligned with regulatory requirements, all while driving continuous improvement and innovation.

This is a 12-month fixed term position.

As a key member of the first line risk team, you’ll help drive risk excellence and operational control across CBNZ. Your responsibilities will include:

Embedding and enhancing risk and control frameworks across CBNZ.Investigating incidents and control deficiencies through root cause analysis.Designing and implementing treatment plans for emerging risks.Drafting risk papers for risk acceptances and appetite breaches.Leading control self-assessments aligned with the risk management framework.Supporting the development and delivery of risk training initiatives.Collaborating with stakeholders to build a strong risk culture.Specialising in one or more risk domains: Credit, Compliance, or Operational Risk.Developing data analytics to generate and support risk insights.Maintaining strong relationships across teams and attending regional meetings.

What You’ll BringA degree in finance, mathematics, agribusiness, or a related field.5+ years’ experience in risk management within financial services or regulated industries.Strong understanding of rural and commercial lending, risk appetite, and non-financial risks.Proficiency in data analytics tools (Excel, Power BI).Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently and remotely when needed.
