Summary
Performs nutrition care support within parameters set forth by Food Services. Orders entry system for diet changes, answering and responding to phone calls related to nutrition services. Assists patients with dysphagia in ordering food/beverages that are appropriate for their diet. Reviews food allergies with patients to ensure they are input correctly in CBORD.Job Description
Depending on location, conducts nutritional screenings of hospitalized patients. Depending on location, serves as a liaison between call center and nutritional services.
Reviews reports relevant to position and provides necessary follow-ups. Assists with menu selections and menu entries. Ensures proper order of food. Processes supplement and tube feeding orders. Completes calorie counts. Works intricately with dietitians. Serves as a liaison between dietitians and nutritional service department.
Demonstrates ability to work with patients of all ages. Displays ability to recognize and provide for ethic, cultural and religious needs. Possesses knowledge of nutrition and special diets. Performs patient rounding and follows up with patients concerning meals and meal services. Communicates effectively, timely and often with nursing staff, nutrition techs, dietitians and call center staff.
Uses computerized diet sheets, accesses patient computer system, and retrieves completed meals from patients' rooms and records intake and calorie count information. Maintains compliance with all Hazardous Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines.
Possesses excellent customer service skills continuously. Displays listening skills and effectively communicates with co-workers, supervisors and nursing staff. Establishes effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and nursing staff. Evaluates and maintains quality control standards.
Qualifications
Minimum of six months experience required. Depending on location, preceptor CDM (Certified Dietary Manager) course completed within two years of hire and/or a current student in a dictionary program. CDM must be renewed every three years.
