General Information & Responsibilities
Essential Responsibilities:
+ Provide leadership for learning in the nursing department simulation lab.
+ Coordinate simulations to include selecting and/or creating appropriate scenarios with instructor input, student learning objectives, set-up of equipment, moulage, assist instructor with debrief as appropriate, etc.
+ Consult with other institutions on simulation techniques and innovations.
+ Maintain simulation lab schedule for the nursing department.
+ Obtain CHSE certification within 3 years
+ Assist with Grant writing for support of simulation and lab equipment and scenarios.
+ Safety Days/Skills coordinator for fall skills review by students before the semester begins (yearly)
+ Maintain and update simulation lab in collaboration with the Department Chair including but not limited to identifying needed software; lab supply and upgrading equipment needs; troubleshooting issues with equipment/software.
+ Coordination with simulation vendors, the Department Chair, and BHC IT for upgrades and repair of simulation mannequins or equipment.
+ Collaboration with faculty in the development, implementation, and integration of simulation activities for nursing students.
+ Collaborate with Department chair for maintaining inventory of needed equipment, organizing equipment, and ordering of supplies.
+ Conduct evaluation of effectiveness of simulation learning.
+ Maintain current knowledge in the field of simulation technology and learning theory.
+ Maintain the MDS notebook for the ADN lab and simulation suite.
+ Complete the hazardous materials teaching for the ADN program faculty.
Description of Duties
DESCRIPTION OF OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Executes duties and responsibilities of a BHC faculty member as assigned by the Nursing Department Chair up to a maximum of 40% time.
+ Maintains assigned files for College including those of a confidential nature.
+ Assists Nursing Department Chair with review of simulation learning evaluations.
+ Coordinates special projects as assigned.
+ Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

+ Reports directly to the Dean of Health Services.
+ Works directly with the Nursing Department Chair and all Nursing Faculty.
+ Works directly students.
+ Works cooperatively with all Black Hawk College staff and faculty.
+ Works cooperatively with community agencies as required, including school districts, libraries, Regional Offices of Education, and various state agencies and partners.
Education & Experience
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.)
+ Master’s degree in Nursing, emphasis on nursing simulation preferred
+ CHSE certification preferred
+ CHSOS certification preferred
+ Teaching/management experience preferred.
+ Experience working with diverse populations required.
+ Basic level of proficiency with Microsoft Office required.
+ Strong communication skills required.
+ Experience in writing and managing grants is beneficial.
