Nursing Professional Development-Practitioner
Location: Bloomington Hospital
Shift: Part-Time  Practitioner - Nursing Professional Development (NPD)  The Nursing Professional Development Practitioner utilizes NPD practice judgment and expertise to enhance and influence the professional role competence and growth of learners in various settings, with the goal of supporting the IU Health Way. Key responsibilities include onboarding/orientation, competency management, education, role development, collaborative partnerships, and inquiry. This role often functions at the unit or facility level, partnering with leaders and stakeholders to achieve strategic goals and initiatives.Position OverviewThis role is dedicated to fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within IU Health by designing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs that support staff development, role competence, and system-wide initiatives. The practitioner works closely with clinical leaders and teams to ensure educational needs are met and that staff are prepared to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.Key Responsibilities:Lead onboarding and orientation programs for new staff and learners.Manage clinical competency assessments and development activities.Develop and deliver education tailored to staff needs, role development, and system initiatives.Build collaborative partnerships with unit leaders, educators, and other stakeholders.Promote a culture of inquiry and continuous professional improvement.Participate in system or unit-based projects and initiatives related to education and staff development.Support the integration of adult learning principles in all educational activities.Qualifications & Requirements:Education:Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required.Licensure:Active RN license in Indiana or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).Certifications:Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).Additional advanced life support certifications may be required per specific unit/department policies.Experience:Two years of clinical nursing experience preferred.Additional Skills:Demonstrated knowledge and application of adult learning principles.Willingness and ability to travel as needed to meet system educational needs.Join IU Health!Be part of a system committed to excellence in professional practice, education, and patient care.
