Join the UPMC Shadyside School of Nursing as a Nursing Instructor/Professional Nurse! UPMC Shadyside School of Nursing is seeking a full-time Nursing Instructor/Professional Nurse to join our expanding team. We welcome candidates with an MSN and 3 years of clinical experience. Final job title will reflect your education, experience, and manager discretion. The individual hired into this role will primarily work 3 days at the school and the remainder at the bedside in staffing. About Us:The mission of UPMC Shadyside School of Nursing is to prepare entry-level graduate nurses for practice within an interprofessional healthcare team. The school is part of UPMC Shadyside, which is part of the UPMC health system. The focus of our program is mastery of high-level competencies reflecting the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required for the delivery of safe, quality nursing care. Position Overview:As a Nursing Instructor/Professional Nurse, you’ll balance clinical practice and teaching responsibilities. You’ll guide nursing students through clinical practicum experiences while delivering high-quality patient care in the healthcare team. Your role will involve leadership, collaboration, and the provision of patient care with a focus on evidence-based practice and relationship-based care. Key Responsibilities: + Serve as a role model in professional nursing practice for students and peers. + Provide clinical instruction and feedback to nursing students during practicum experiences. + Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, faculty, and the healthcare team. + Utilize critical thinking skills and evidence-based practices to improve patient care and clinical teaching. + Mentor students and share knowledge through innovative teaching strategies. + Participate in the continuous improvement of patient care and workplace practices. + Create a supportive, inclusive environment for students and colleagues. + 3 years clinical experience required + MSN required + Precepting experience required; clinical teaching experience in prelicensure program preferred + Appointment to this position and retention of this position is contingent upon the approval of the PA State Board of Nursing. + The individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and/or interact appropriately to the ages of the patients served by his/her assigned unit. + They must also demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in UPMC policy and procedures. + Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and patients/families. + Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities, and use specialized equipment. + Exemplary clinical judgment with critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities required as related to various aspects of patient care. + Mobility and visual manual dexterity. Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients. + Must possess outstanding communication skills necessary to provide leadership across all educational campuses. **Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:** + Current Pennsylvania licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse. + Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state. + CPR Certification for BLS for Health Care Providers. + CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire + Appointment to this position and retention of this position is contingent upon the approval of the PA State Board of Nursing. + Act 33 with renewal + Act 34 with renewal + Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal **UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran**
