UPMC Hamot is hiring a Casual Nursing Assistant to join the Trauma-Neuro ICU!

_Title and salary will be determined based upon education and experience._
**Responsibilities:**
+ Provide direct patient care under RN supervision, including ADLs (bathing, feeding, toileting, ambulating, etc.).
+ Perform core nursing assistant tasks: vital signs, blood glucose checks, weights, I&O, specimen collection, Foley care, telemetry monitor application, and restraint use.
+ Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment: safety checks, equipment cleaning, linen changes, and clutter removal.
+ Acquire, distribute, and stock supplies and equipment; perform messenger duties and set up patient care equipment.
+ Deliver nourishments, fill water pitchers, distribute mail, and assist with meal trays. Respond to call lights, phones, and transport patients as needed.
+ Provide companionship and one-on-one supervision when required. Document care and complete clerical tasks per department procedures.
+ Report equipment malfunctions and follow safety protocols, including standard precautions and bloodborne pathogen procedures. Support restraint alternatives through diversional activities.
+ Communicate effectively with the healthcare team and demonstrate cultural sensitivity and professionalism. Participate in self-assessment, seek feedback, and identify learning needs.
+ Demonstrate accountability, motivation, and a positive attitude toward patient care and teamwork. Support departmental improvements and take ownership of assignments and challenges.
+ Adhere strictly to all hospital policies and patient confidentiality standards. Access to medications is limited to delivering them to the nurse.
+ High school diploma or GED.
+ Successful completion of UPMC nursing assistant training program.
+ Knowledge of body mechanics and transfer techniques.
+ Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred. **Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:**
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
