The candidate will have broad oncology and hematology experience. This formal recognition of our long-term collaboration with Dana-Farber means your patients receive the best of both worlds: expert local care backed by the leading-edge research and resources of a world-renowned treatment and research organization Essential Duties and Responsibilities: + Hospital Consults + Elicit medical histories of patients, perform physical examinations, and develop a differential diagnosis/problem list. + Assess the physical and psychosocial status of patients by means of interview, health history, physical examination, and diagnostic studies, + Order and interpret laboratory tests and radiologic data, diagnose, and treat co-morbid illness within the scope of a patient’s hematologic/oncologic diagnosis, perform procedures as delegated by the attending physician, prescribe medications in accordance with federal and state regulations. + Determine the eligibility of patients for entry into clinical trials based on findings. + Evaluate the quality of care provided and recommend changes for improvement. + Initiate appropriate actions to facilitate the implementation of therapeutic plans that are consistent with the continuing healthcare needs of the patient. + Educate patients and families about the disease process and treatment. + Provide information to patients and families related to symptom management and psychosocial response to the diagnosis of cancer and related treatment. Travel: rare Weekends: This position will participate with other practice NP/PAs in weekend urgent care coverage. 3-4 times per year paid at a premium. Required Experience: + State of Maine Nurse Practitioner/Physician’s Assistant license required or the ability to obtain. + State of New Hampshire Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant License required or the ability to obtain + Three (3) years’ experience in Oncology and Hematology. + Master’s Degree Required. + Women's Health Experience Desired + Ability to collaborate with physicians, nurses, and support staff. + Ability to communicate with patients in a clear, concise, and compassionate manner.
