Stony Brook University: Health Sciences: Renaissance School of Medicine: Internal Medicine: Rheumatology, Allergy and Immunology **Description** Stony Brook Medicine’s **Advanced Practitioners** are valuable members of our team who provide clinical services to our patient population. We are seeking candidates to work full-time in our East Setauket, Lake Grove and Commack offices to provide adult patient care under the supervision of the identified supervising physician. Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior patient care and possess outstanding communication skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence. **Duties may include the following but are not limited to:** + Assist with consultations and initial visits. + Perform follow-up care and comprehensive patient assessment. Establish a medical diagnosis, order and evaluate diagnostic studies, & prescribe and regulate medications and assess and/or manage follow-up plans within the protocols and practice plans approved by the supervising physician. + Collaborate with supervising physician and nursing staff in the facilitation and interpretation of laboratory test results and maintain ongoing, daily communication with the physician collaborator. + Telephone patients to give lab results, arrange for prescription refills where appropriate. Write or call in new prescriptions for medications as permitted by practice agreement; triage phone calls when necessary. + Record and document health appraisal data necessary to maintain, coordinate and expedite required services. + Perform minor joint procedures. + Work with clinic staff together for insurance appeals and pre-authorizations as necessary. + Coordination with clinic staff of patient care for both outpatients and inpatients related to rheumatologic care, including national and international referrals. + Perform consents, including for genetic testing. + Cover physicians during their absence as necessary. + Perform other duties as assigned by the Division Chief or designee. **Qualifications** **Required Qualifications:** **NURSE PRACTITIONER:** NYS license and certification as a Nurse Practitioner. Master's Degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Nursing or completion of a course for a Nurse Practitioner. **PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT:** NYS license and certification as a Physician Assistant. Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher) from an accredited school of Physician Assistants. **Preferred Qualifications:** Previous experience working in a busy outpatient setting. Previous experience in the fields of Rheumatology and Allergy along with previous experience in research, i.e., clinical trials etc. Motivation, dedication and flexibility are all desired qualities. **Application Instructions** All application materials must be submitted online.
