Nurse Practitioner - Pediatric Inpatient Services (Night Shift) **Galveston, Texas, United States** Nursing & Care Management UTMB Health Requisition # 2502476 **JOB SUMMARY** Provides advanced practice health care services as well as documentation of services, collaborates with colleagues and clinical director, supervises assigned support staff, participates in quality assurance activities, and demonstrates a commitment to quality health care. **EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE** **Minimum Qualifications:** + Completion of a graduate level (or higher) nurse practitioner program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) + No experience required **LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS OR CERTIFICATIONS** **Required:** + Certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) + Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) by the Texas Board of Nursing (TBON) + Licensed Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in a nurse practitioner clinical area of specialization by the Texas Board of Nursing (TBON) + Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification _Current RN’s who have not yet completed their nurse practitioner program or recent graduates who have not yet obtained their ANCC/AANP certification or APRN nurse practitioner license are eligible to apply for this position. However, official employment is contingent upon the successful completion of an accredited nurse practitioner program, ANCC/AANP certification and APRN nurse practitioner licensure._ **Job Duties:** + Management of complex and acute medical conditions, as well as behavioral, nutritional, equipment, and education. + Performing detailed examinations of the patient. Creating and implementing treatment plans. + Coordinating with other medical professionals and specialists as necessary, as well as equipment needs, under the supervision of clinic faculty. + Ordering, and interpreting diagnostic tests such as lab work and x-rays, performing procedures such as lumbar puncture , and providing parent, and family education. + Updating medical records and completing progress notes on time. + Supports and assists with hospital and unit specific quality improvement projects. + Direct contact with DMEs, pharmacies, and insurance companies (peer-peer) required to expedite patient’s medications, supplies and equipment. + Regular attendance at division, unit provider, and quality improvement meetings. + Excellent communication skills with patients and interprofessional members of the team. **Requirements:** + Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification + PALS certification + At least one year of work experience in a hospital setting as a pediatric nurse practitioner **Salary Range:** Commensurate with experience **Equal Employment Opportunity** UTMB Health strives to provide equal opportunity employment without regard to race, color, religion, age, national origin, sex, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, genetic information, disability, veteran status, or any other basis protected by institutional policy or by federal, state or local laws unless such distinction is required by law.
