Additional Information About the Role Open to hiring an Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) for this role Min Degree Requirement for PA is BPA or MPA Min Degree Requirement for NP is Master's Degree 4 (10hr) shifts per weeks 7am-5pm Great medical benefits 401(k) and Pension Plan About the BJH Surgical and Wound Care Center (SWCC): This center is a part of the nationally recognized BJC HealthCare Organization and located at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. SWCC provides acute and chronic wound and ostomy care, pre-surgical ssessment, post-surgical follow-up including bedside debridements, biopsies, advanced wound care, application of skin substitutes, and ordering diagnostic testing as needed. The SWCC works closely with Vascular, Podiatry, Plastic Surgery, Orthopedics, Ortho foot/ankle, Colorectal, Oncology/Oncology surgery, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, along with multiple other services. The center is staffed with Advanced Practice Nurses who have a collaborative practice agreement with the Acute and Critical Care Services (general and trauma surgeons). SWCC provides excellent, compassionate care to individuals consistent with their complex wound/ostomy needs. We strive to improve the quality of life for those we treat through critical care, education, healing, and research. Role Purpose - Physician Assistant: Utilizes a high degree of knowledge, skill and competence in a specialized area to coordinate, manage and evaluate the delivery of quality patient care. Serves as a role model, mentor, and preceptor for others. Enters into a formal collaborative practice agreement with physician(s) to support a designated clinical service. Role Purpose - Nurse Pracitioner: The Nurse Practitioner is an advanced practice nurse who utilizes a high degree of knowledge, skill and competence in a specialized patient care area. This position assesses, diagnose, prescribes, initiates plan of care and evaluates outcomes within the scope of a formal collaborative practice agreement with physician(s). Overview Preferred Qualifications Role Purpose The Nurse Practitioner is an advanced practice nurse who utilizes a high degree of knowledge, skill and competence in a specialized patient care area. This position assesses, diagnose, prescribes, initiates plan of care and evaluates outcomes within the scope of a formal collaborative practice agreement with physician(s). Responsibilities Participates in professional development Manages the health care of patient populations with compassion through advanced health assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and evaluation in a collaborative practice agreement with a physician. Prescriptive responsibilities are reviewed by collaborative physician. Coordinates the care of patient populations, in a collaborative practice agreement with a physician, to ensure promotion of health and wellness through education of patients and families, coordination of services and placing referrals. Assesses development needs of staff and develops and delivers appropriate educational programs to meet staff needs. Develops treatment plans, treats patients with acute problems including illnesses and minor injuries following a predetermined protocol in a collaborative practice agreement with a physician.
