Practices in a formal relationship with obstetricians so that consultation and transfer of a patient is always available.Functions within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology as a provider of inpatient and outpatient prenatal, natal and postnatal care, including periodic gynecologic and breast examinations.A Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM), with core privileges, can admit and discharge normal obstetrical patients, elicit histories, perform physical examinations, order and interpret tests, make diagnoses, institute treatment, order consultations, and treat common diseases.Specific procedures within the specialty are individually credentialed.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Requires Master's Degree in Nursing; licensure as a Certified Nurse Midwife; licensure as a Registered Nurse; and BCLS certification.
