The Nurse Manager of 5NEWS Transplant Unit at Loyola University Medical Center is a registered professional nurse, conversant with the nursing process, who has 24/7 accountability of the unit operations. The Nurse Manager is the clinical and business Manager of the unit.
The 5NEWS Transplant Unit is a 32-bed unit that care of patients after receiving solid organ transplant surgical procedures including kidney, pancreas, liver, and other organs.
Position Responsibilities:
Accountable for quality outcomes to drive process improvement.Leads unit (s) quality initiatives, research and evidenced based activities utilizing current validated research.Develops effective strategies to promote integration of evidenced-based research into practice at the unit level and division level.Provides effective leadership in the design, implementation, and evaluation of process improvement initiatives at the unit, department, and division level.Critical Thinking:
Promotes and supports critical thinking among all personnel through appreciative inquiry.Critically reviews cases and events to determine the root cause and develops action plans for improvement.Demonstrates knowledge of trends in healthcare practice, economics, policy, and legislation.Recognizes the impact of internal and external factors on care delivery and unit/division and organizational financesStandards Of Nursing:
Provides strategic planning and direction for the implementation of unit goals.Maintains knowledge of regulatory and accreditation standards/rule changes.Collaborates with stakeholders to jointly plan patient care, develop education opportunities for staff and resolve interdisciplinary conflicts.Establishes staffing requirements and plans for appropriate utilization of labor resources.Financial Management:
Monitors budgetary expenditures to ensure accuracy of expenses and identify variances.Monitors utilization of staff, supplies, and equipment for optimal efficiency and makes recommendations as needed.Appropriately manages budgeted versus actual FTEs, open requisitions, profile processing, performance reviews, and salary adjustments with policy guidelines.Identify inventory levels of costs of supplies maintained in the area.Leadership:
Translates the nursing and organizational vision and strategic plan into measurable goals and sustainable programs.Builds a shared vision that articulates and influences others to translate vision into action.Encourages staff to develop new and innovative ideas.Mentors and coaches' delegation and management skills along with career development.Provides and invites ongoing performance feedback to peers, staff, and other disciplines to achieve positive clinical and service outcomes.Personal Growth:
Maintains unit and management competencies.Keeps abreast of current standards of care via literature, educational offerings, and other resources.Participates in activities to enhance professional growth by involvement in professional organizations and continuing education.Maintains awareness of current trends, technology, and methodology in health care and evaluates appropriateness for implementation.What's Required:
Bachelor's degree in nursing.Must complete relevant graduate degree or certification in clinical area or leadership certification within 3 years of hire.2-3 years of previous job-related experience. 3-5 years preferred.1-2 years of managerial experience.BLS (Basic Life Support)ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) preferred.Current Illinois Registered Nurse License of active nursing board license in another state.

Pay range: $96,782- $159,702
Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
