TITLE:  Nurse Intern                                     

DEPARTMENT: Nursing Services                           

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR JOB TITLE:  Nursing Directors

Position Summary The nurse intern is a student nurse who assists in the delivery of patient care under the direction of a registered nurse.  

Essential Functions

Demonstrates our hospital’s core values and processes. Contributes to the nursing assessment and alerts RN to abnormal findings. Documents patient care reflecting the patient condition and the care provided. Integrates experience and critical thinking skills to ensure safe patient care. Completes tasks as assigned by RN. Participates in quality improvement activities by identifying, implementing, and monitoring process changes.

Non-essential Functions

Performs other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

Minimum of at least one year of an approved registered nurse education program with one semester of clinical course work. Must verify passing grade in clinical course work. Must have affiliated college/school complete and verify nurse intern competency checklist. Must have a letter of recommendation from a clinical instructor. American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS

Mental / Emotional Demands

Is able to demonstrate a beginning knowledge of nursing practice and theory. Must be able to apply theory to clinical setting. Demonstrates excellent communication skills. Demonstrates self motivation. Apply Now
